There have been a few instances where lakes with huge amounts of dissolved CO2 at depth were disturbed in one way or another and sent literally tons of CO2 flowing from the lake into surrounding lowlands. Don’t want pipeline across your property? Just get some arrowheads and some old pottery. Bury em a few inches deep and when the archaeologists survey before hand they’ll reroute the line. Happens all the time. We’re getting a crude oil pipeline running through our county now. The line was rerouted twice that I know of due to artifacts. One was legit since this area was inhabited by natives. One was so so since no artifacts have ever been found in that area.
