carb trouble???

have you tried running with gas cap loose? if cap vent is plugged, engine will eventually starve for fuel.

Yes...thanks...but tried that...same problem.
I am now thinking contaminated fuel..or a bad SAM.
Ignition control module.
Any one with experience of failing electronics ?

Gotta be a carb problem.... ordered a rebuild kit today....which is just
gaskets, float needle , and 4 top screws...good thing ...
(I lost one in the intake valley ) .... and a new idle screw and spring....
pretty lame rebuild kit actually.
The things I Do know are :
1. Fuel IS getting to carb
2. Fuel is NOT contaminated
3. Carb runs lean , and stalls
Things I don't know :
1. Is ignition cutting out ?
Spark is there when tested
2. Is SAM at fault here ?
3. Can coils go bad under load ?
Some one out there must have had a dupe problem like mine....
wish I could find them

i kept getting trash in mine...i strain my gas out of the can now....i tried to clean out the tank but its a difficult shape to clean out......someone else was saying that it happens a lot to these carbs but i dont know

Is your tractor actually runable now ?
Mine is not.... but thank God we are in a dry spell and grass is not growing.
Hope to have this problem licked by the weekend.
I am wondering if there is a carb out there that can be substituted
for this Keihin ?

mine is runnable as of when i parked it. I had finally finishe the lawn. I started it to move it yesterday and it was fine, but didnt move far

Sounds like mine WAS....now it will barely run...
can't wait to put the rebuild kit in ...later this week.
If that don't do it.... may be time to torch it !

Got it today... will try to install tomorrow.
Not much to it .... all rubber gaskets and seals , and it looks like
and adjustable needle .... I guess I may have to drill out plugs to side ports ?
Anyone know ?

Yes... I rebuilt .... same troubles....
don't know where to go from here ?
Been cleaned orffice by orfifce....... I am just dumb founded at this point...
Some one on this site mentioned solenoid.... that was NUMBER ONE
suspect for me from the beginning.

2 months and count less hrs. of fiddling... problem solved... ( I think : )
Cut pin on solenoid and she runs fine....however do think I will spend the $
for a new solenoid...much as I hate to.
If you don't idle down for a few minutes, and shut right down after hr.s of mowing.... engine will run on, and does not make good sounds when it does this.
Raw fuel can not be good for oil either.

Glad you got it running! I just saw this thread today and as I was reading it I was thinking you should check the solendoid. I'm no mechanic, I just had a similar thing happen to me and it was a bad solenoid. I got lucky and found a brand new carb with solenoid online at Tulsa Engine Warehouse on clearance for $43.

I think you know by now... but will answer ... the fuel cut off solenoid.
I have ordered a new one even though I running without one now...
I don't like start ups or shut downs..... messy affair for both....
so new one goes in soon.
