I built my utility trailer 15 years ago using the rear axle from a '68 Olds Tornado I'd carted back to NH from the midwest in 1983. I replaced the wheel bearings a few years ago just because I felt guilty. The thing still tracks straight and true.
In the late 70's (in Wisconsin) I used the axle and other parts from the Toro - front frame clip & transaxle - and a Chevy 327 to build a FWD '70 Firebird. Never made it street legal, but it did go on a dirt track!!
