Can't Trust Fuel Gauge

I was out working this morning, and I could see a rain storm approaching. Gathered my tools and started the tractor, but when I increased the throttle, she bogged down and died. I noticed the fuel gauge showed about 1/8 tank, took a look, and sure enough, it was empty. Ran back to the barn, and got the fuel can and she cranked back up. Gave it some throttle, and it took a second or two, but the rpm ran on up. Just as I took off for the barn, the rain caught me, and I got a good soaking! I let it idle for a few minutes, just to make sure there wasn't any air in the lines. Gave me a scare for sure. I believe everything is ok.
I'll know from now on, when she hits a 1/4, it's time to refuel!

I noticed on my r4041 that once it hits 1/4 tank it doesn't take long to go on E. I also think the tank only olds about 8.5 gallons, not 9.5 as advertised. I have had it down to E without running out of fuel tho. Even at that.. could only stuff about 8 gallons of fuel into the tank.

my fuel guage will lie too, guage will show empty but tank will still have 1/4 in it.

My 3039h is empty at 1/4 tank fuel indicator on level ground. Did it to me 2x so far or rather I did it to myself as I should of learned the first time. After 41 hours that's the only issue so I'm not complaining.
