I'd start by trying to rotate the clip with a small/thin pin punch & hammer. If the bearing is against the clip holding it, you can also try driving the bearing back with a drift & hammer, against the inner race of course.

Was the key a woodruff key ? It looked like it might be in the picture !

I think Dbartman gave good advice on the snap ring, go slow and dont damage any parts unecessarily ! You will get it done, sounds like youve got the right mindset on this project !
