Mid-Mount Mower cant get mower to engage

We have a John Deere 4200 that we have had for a few years now. When we purchased it the tractor it came with a mid mount mower but at that time we were just beginning to landscape our property, now that we are in need of the mid mount mower we can't seem to get it to engage. Hopefully someone out there can give me some advice because 3 acres of yard takes a long time to push a mower around (lol). Thanks a bunch .......Tamra F.

Are you pulling up on the mid pto yellow knob with the rear pto lever in the brake position? Then engage the rear pto lever. Both rear and mid pto should turn on.

Yes, you must first pull up the mid-PTO selector, it's down but your right heel IIRC. Then engage the rear-PTO.

Hi ....thanks for the replys but I have been doing this and the knob won't come up.......any more ideas? Tamra

It may be froze up where it enters the differential. Soak the area with pb blaster and work it back and forth to try to free it up.
