I need to replace the stator in my Deere L118 but I can't get the flywheel off.
I got the nut that holds the flywheel down off with an impact gun, I have used a ton of PB Blaster around the keyEd shaft it is mounted on, and I have taken a hammer and banged it with a hammer hoping that the shock would help loosen it up- but it won't budge. My son and I are both trying Ito pry it up with us on opposite sides.
Suggestions? I have a hrmonic balance puller but it doesn't allow proper alignment of the two screw holes in the flywheel. Ihgave a hand held propane torch to try heating it up but that's it as far as a heating source/tool. I'm not sure that will work.
Help!!!

I haven,t seen a flywheel yet I couldn't get off with someones help to hold 2 pry bars under the flywheel with some pressure and striking the top of the crankshaft. key is not too excessive force on prybars or hammer striking the crank

I would go to Harbor Freight or similar tool supply, buy a cheap gear puller and give it a go. As mentioned in your other post, you can make a puller from heavy flat stock, drill two bolt holes that match the flywheel and use a large bolt in the center to push against the crank end similar to this Another homemade flywheel puller

I have a piece of 1" brass rod that is about 4" long that I use as a large punch to hit crankshafts with. It won't damage the threads the way a hammer will. Usually one sharp hit with the hammer is all it takes when prying up on the flywheel.

Edit The homemade puller idea is easier for one person and chances of damaging anything are less.

That's what I do, but you usually do not need the center bolt at all. I have several that I have made
without center bolts. Just put some round stock against the crank nut and tighten the outer bolts.

I rarely use heat, since that can damage the magnets.

Got a puller and got it off, thanks. between the new stator and the new regulator my charging issue should be fixed. Now I'm off to research a log splitter seeing how my neighbor had 4 big red oaks taken down.
Everyone's help has been appreciated.
