Can\'t Engage 4WD on Jinma 304

After using 4wd last weekend while turning my compost pile, I shifted back into 2wd. Now I can get it to return to 4wd, the lever moves a little but not all the way. I've tried shifting the transfer case with the tractor moving forward slowly, at a stop with clutch depressed, and even in reverse. The tractor has over 200 hours, with no previous transfer case issues. No strange noises during the last operation in 4wd. Any suggestions for troubleshooting this problem?

Its a long shot but make sure your wheels are pointing straight ahead before trying to engage the 4wd.

I am going by memory, my books are at the house. I think there is a detent ball that gets stuck, or the lever could have over traveled. If I remeber right I took one apart and slid it toward 4 wheel drive and put it back together and it worked fine. Yours just might be on a bind and not letting it move.
I have seen this on a few in the past, people like to use their foot to disengage the lever and apply to much pressure and jam it.
If you had a major problem you would know it, when the 4 wheel drive screws up it makes a racket.
