Fellow Kioti owners,
I'm looking for a canopy for my DK40SE HST The sales dept told me the factory ones were not very well made. So I hunt.

Your sales guy is correct. Kioti canopies are cheaply built, I have one on my DK35SE HST. I didnt pay much for it cause the dealer wanted to get rid ot it. In the spring i will get a new one. My cousin has the same tractor as mine He got his at Cover My Tractor - Tractor Covers, Tractor cover, Tractor Cab, Tractor Cabs, Skid Steer Covers, Tractor enclosures, tractor enclosure, cab enclosures, cab enclosure, construction equipment covers, construction tractor covers, riding lawn mower covers
I like it. Well made went on easy and priced good. I'm going that way in the spring. Just a thought .. . John

I found a umbrella type top that connects to the ROPS that is lessthan 200$ So I think I'll go with that. The rest of these links wants about 450$ to 655% plus another 185$ to ship. It ain't worth that to me...

What is the source of the umbrella canopy? An easy to install/stow/remove canopy would appeal to me because I freeze in the spring and roast in the summer.

I found it thru my parts man at the kioti dealer. They had two types. A typical old style umbrella set-up or one that connects to your ROPS.

I did not like the design of the factory canopies so I picked up a used EZ-GO golfcar canopy and mounted it on my CK20HST. I made the mounts to give it a slight forward rake so that limbs will ride up and over - also catches less wind when trailering - the left front support works well as a grab handle for mounting/dismounting :)

When I bought my B2710 Kubota in 1999, the salesman said the Kubota canopy was a kind of plastic and cost more than a Well Ag Company canopy so I went with the steel. As far as I know they still don't sell direct; only through dealers. There may be other canopies as good, but I've yet to see one that's better. I only paid $295 for mine, but that was about twelve and a half years ago, so I'd expect it to be a bit more now.

Tractor Supply sells the umbrella type sunshade canopies. They have three versions ranging in price $69.99, $99.99, $139.99. The Buggy Style type sunshade is the highest priced. One of my Uncles bought one from TSC a couple of years ago for his farm tractor, and it didn't last long, due to wind damage. He parked his tractor in the barn when not in use. Just trying to help. The best of Luck.

The Wells canopy has insulation material attached to the underside, so I think it might serve as a bit of a sound absorbing material also. No scientific tests done that I know of; just my guess. But I doubt that you have any more noise, if as much, as with no canopy.

I fully agree with your post bird.I did not notice much noise difference with or without canopy on.coobie

I think we bought a Wells metal canopy as well. We bought it from our sorta local Kioti dealer. I did not see a brand on name on it but it looks just like the Wells. Perhaps when they sell to dealers they do not brand it.

At any rate, we just put it on a few weeks ago and have hardly used our tractor yet - no snow in the Northern California mountains until the last 2 days. The quality looks very good. It is longer than most and part of it hangs off the back.

Most of the less expensive ones I found were not very substantial. I feel we made a good choice.

I got a tractor shade , made out of fiberglass , about 5 years ago for my B7800 , it 10 to 15 degrees cooler under it in the summer . ( tractor shade.com ) picked it up from my Kubota dealer . Just can't remember the price. Made a windsheid also to keep the wind and rain off me , and added a fan . Plan on making some doors and back window one day.. I know we do what we can afford , I saw another local guy use round pipe and for 4 post and corigated metal for the top , painted black. It works for him.. Hope you find what you need , and enjoy your tractor time more .Steven

My experience is somewhat different. My tractor came with a Kioti fiberglass canopy five years ago. While clearing woods, I have bashed it into more tree limbs than I can possible remember and have broken off a good number of them. Canopy is still in good condition performing it's function. The only problem I had was that it was too high so I lowered it a few inches to get under my roll-up door.
