I have the 73" HD bucket for a 400cx loader on a 4720. It's stout enough for my needs, but it appears to be small for this size tractor. Is it me or does anyone else share the same opinion? I do not know the cubic yard capacity, but I wonder if I can upsize the bucket...maybe from the 5 series tractors or the black professional buckets offered through JD. Any of you 4x20 owners have the 73" HD bucket filled to capacity with crushed rock or dirt and find the loader can do so much more or should I just stick with what I have? I know JD offers a high volume bucket for mulch, snow, etc....but I'm intending on heavier uses. Any advice??? THANKS!

I agree with you that the bucket is a little on the small side. I have it on my 4120/400X. I can heap it way over-full of soil with nothing on the 3 pt, and the tractor is completely stable. I do have loaded rear tires. I believe that the shear number of lawyers we have in this country forces JD to make the bucket small enough to keep the tractor stable with nothing on the 3-pt and unloaded tires. I think that this tractor/loader could handle a bucket of double the standard's volume capacity with loaded tires and a good sized implement on the back but in these days of big settlements you are not going to see it offered from the factory.
