Hi everyone. A newbe here, however not so new on the outside...infact you could say I was an oldster. Anyhoo, a customer of mine who had recently moved onto an old farmstead, gave me a cultivator. I have no use for it but thought I would sell it. Not knowing its make or any information about it, could one of you take a look at the picture and provide me with some listing information and approx. value.
PS. I attempted to break up some hardpacked soil with this and aparently either I did it wrong (in other words, did not know what I was doing) anyway it skipped along the top of the ground. I tilted the top link every which way I could think of and nothing really significant happened which got me to thinking this unit was developed for already tilled soil?
Any help would be appreciated since I am always learning something new everyday...now where did I leave that greasegun?

JD had a field cultivator similar to that, however they had one front and 1 back alternating across. I have a 11 shank JD that I would not price. Allis Chalmers made a coil shank field cultivator also. I am guessing the latter. Ken Sweet

I don't know about make, but it looks to be a nice cultivator. Personally I like the way the spring tines are bent, and some row spacing adjustments can be made by sliding the tines along the beam.

Try pricing it on par with one at a local farm store. It should attract a buyer that would prefer a little more metal than some of the current stuff they sell now.

Cultivators are definitely meant for loose soil. If you want to break ground you'll need something heavy and ridgid to pull through the dirt, like scarifiers or a plow.

Thank you for the follow up...I did some research on the AC set up and did not find one to match. I will go to the local co-op and see if I can do something on consignment. Let you know if I find anything out.
