I found one of these that's running fine, but the rollers are pretty worn down. I was wondering if anyone has tried resurfacing with strips of old tires for example.

I looked at the price or replacements from John Deere, and "Wow!" is all I have to say.

To redo the rollers is a "precision"job that must be made by experts. It's expensive, the rolls must be re-balanced etc. What you must consider is whether to redo the rollers or get a new set, sometime a new set makes more sense depending on the state of your rollers.

R&R of the crimper rolls on a JD 1219 is long way from a stroll in the park. It's very time consuming.
