I'm considering a CCM 66" tiller for my B3030. It's from their commercial line -- MR-175. It weighs 730 lbs according to the spec sheet.

CCM lists required pto HP of 22-70 for this tiller. The B3030 has 23 pto HP.

From what I've seen, it seems most people recommend a 60" tiller max for the B3030.

Is this cutting it too close? Is this too much tiller for the B3030? Anybody else using a tiller this large on their B3030?

Would the KKII 60" tiller be a better choice for the B3030?

Thanks,
Lindy

I would think you will be OK with that setup.

Here's my reasoning...

My Dad has run a JD 650 with a 4' JD tiller in arguably "commercial" usage since 1984... The 650 is rated at 14.5 pto hp. That gives him 3.6hp/ft power loading on the tiller. It does a good job handling that tiller.

You will have a 5.5 ft tiller powered by a rated 23 pto hp, for a power loading of 4.2hp/ft. Knowing how Dad's tractor handles that 4' tiller and his power loading, you'll be at an even better power loading, so I think you'll be just fine with your choice.

I think more weight is an asset in a tiller... it usually indicates more robust construction, and it helps the tiller run deeper into the soil when desired.

Your 3030 shouldn't have any trouble lifting that ammount of weight.

I'm kinda partial to the KK tillers since I own one, but I would say that the only reason that the KK would be a better tiller is because it is lower priced. Other than that, they are quite similar. I've read only one real problem with a KK tiller here on TBN, and that was a bad weld IIRC... and the tiller was replaced by the dealer (TSC I think) and that poster has praised his replacement machine. Everyone else with the KK tillers praises them highly. I think the KK's are more of a "known quantity" here on TBN than the CCM's... I haven't read that many people on here that have the CCM's.

Thanks for the feedback. :)

Looks like I'll be going with a KK 60" instead.
