Tractor
Kubota l2800
Does anyone know if I can haul a kubota L2800 with an f150 and trailer rated for 5000lbs. From what I can find is my tractor weighs about 2500 but I'm unsure if that includes the bucket. I will also have my brush hog on there. My trailer is a two axle. My math gets fuzzy when trying to figure all the numbers out. Just wondering if anyone uses a similair set up?.

Does not include Bucket/FEL or bushhog.

When you day your trailer can haul 5000 lbs is that thr GVWR of the trailer or the payload? Big difference.

Ok, so your trailer has a GVWR, gross vehicle wheel rating, of 5000 lbs. Now you must subtract the trailers empty weight from that to find payload. Not seeing the trailer, but going off your description only, my guess is 1500 lbs. That leaves you with a payload of 3500 lbs.

Now your tractor is 2800 lbs and most FEL's in that class are 800 lbs and I am guessing you have a 5' bush hog that average 600 lbs. That puts you at 4100 lbs before chains to hold it down, ect so lets call it 4200 lbs total.

Short answer is no, you need a 7000 lb GVWR trailer at a minimum.

Those axles are 3000# axles regardless. That trailer may weigh 1500 pounds but that would include both outfitted axles. The decking and frame that is sitting on the axles weighs less than 1000 pounds. How far are you traveling? I would recommend a more heavy duty trailer if your gonna travel over a hundred miles.

Another good indicator is your tires. They will have the maximum load rating on the side of them. If your trailer tires say 1800lbs each at 50 psi. then you are good for 7200lbs on the tires. If you are in that range and not pulling it for hundreds of miles I would put max air in the tires and pull it. Check that the wheel bearings and tires are not overheating and you should be good.

No matter what its only as strong as the weakest link. So one should stay within the limits. It not wise or worth the risk using too small a trailer when he has a $25000 tractor and a $35000 truck.

If you need it moved get a proper trailer, pay someone to transport it, or just road the tractor to the job site.
