Kubota L39 TLB
Hey yall , looking for some wisdoms from the more experienced.

I own a kubota l39 TLB, 30.5 PTO HP. I am trying to find a bush hog that can cut thick brush. Probably 1.5? no bigger than 2?
I have found some medium duty bush hogs that meet all my needs but state a min PTO HP of 30.

Can I haul these? Can I turn them? I prefer to be conservative and definitely dont want to damage my tractor.
Any advise?

Thanks

I perceive your difficulty as finding a Rotary Cutter heavy enough to replace the 1,800 pound Backhoe when removed.

If you mount a 400 to 500 pound Rotary Cutter I doubt you can adjust Top Link sufficiently long to position two cutting blades parallel to the ground.

How wide ?

1.5" to 2" will tear up a light duty bushog in short order if it will even do it. I had a light duty bushog and wouldn't handle that. Don't go over 5' for a bushog on that for best results.

I have never had a heavy duty bushog so not sure what they can handle. 2" seems big to be trying to bushog.

I have 32 hp at the pto, and I spin a 6' rotary brush hog, medium duty with no problems at all. I've hit brush at and a little over 2" with it, takes it in stride and keeps going. You may have to slow down if you get into some really dense/thick stuff, but I've mowed weeds 6' high out of my neighbor's pasture without issue. I'd keep the FEL and bucket on it if you don't have tight clearance issues, for counter weight to offset the mower weight hanging off the rear.

Don't forget to stop regularly and blow the chaff out of your radiator, so you don't have overheating issues while mowing (not sure how large a field you need to mow).

Your tractor should easily handle a 6 foot bush hog. I have less HP and run a 5 footer with no problems. It all comes down to how fast you mow. The bigger the deck, the slower you will go. But if you are mowing down brush and bushes, you aren't going to be flying along anyway. I prefer wider and slower than narrow and fast. The ride is better when you go slow, and you are less likely to damage something. The L39 is 5'6" wide, so a 6 footer would be perfect.

Which mower are you looking at? Get the heaviest duty one you can afford if you are mowing brush and bushes on a regular basis. The lighter ones are best for overgrown fields, not taking out a forest! I have a Bush Hog brand mower and have been very happy with it.

The OP has a construction Loader-Backhoe, not a tractor engineered for field work, although it does have a Three Point Hitch.

I speculate the Three Point Hitch is intended primarily for construction implements, i.e Box Blade and Rear/Angle Blade.

L39 and L45 construction machines are geared lower than a field tractor.

Folks hitch medium duty 5 foot cutters to tractors of that size and power every day across the country and world. Then they go out and cut grass and small brush just like the OP wants to do.

Nice machine...
How easy is the backhoe removal?
I don't think that is something I would want to do often...
