Any ideas on an inexpensive way to move more leaves in my bucket by enlarging it? Could be light weight since I would only use it for leaves and maybe some brush. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Instead of modifying your bucket you may want to look at fabricating a larger "basket" that will mount on your FEL arms in place of the bucket. I've never seen one or done one but it seems you could make up a light weight frame and cover the sides with chicken wire or some other type of wire mesh.
If you burn leaves around here, the local Fire Department thats 1.5 miles away, will join your party. The only bad thing is, they bring water with them and REALLY make your burn pile smoke.
My Idea (that I havn't done yet) is to get some forks for my loader and build a plywood box. 1 full sheet for the floor, 1 full sheet for the back, and 1/2 sheet for each side. Few 2x4s for rigidity and tie to the fork carriage. Rack in leaves, transport as desired.
I made a cheap system using some old 4x4's. My bucket has a hole in each side for my removeable toothbar. I scabbed some 4x4's together with a plywood gusset and then bolt it to by bucket with 5/8" bolts. I use this for hauling branches when "logging". For smaller stuff like leaves, I screw some old pieces of plywood to the 4x4's. You can haul a lot of stuff with this. Just be careful the first time you dump the loader. When you have 4 feet sticking out in front is behaves a lot differently and moves a lot faster. I've attached a photo of my highly technical and sophisticated setup. Hope this helps.
The only thing the fire department here asks is that you call them in advance when you're going to ignite a big burn pile so they don't waste an emergency run when someone else calls in thinking yours is a fire that needs to be put out.
If you want, they'll even come out with some people and a pumper just to be handy in case the wind kicks up and things start heading in a direction you hadn't planned. Pretty nice deal, actually. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
