I.E. is there a backward and forward flow? (Land Pride 3rd function, MTL grapple) Everything is all hooked up and ready to go, but I don’t need a major repair job at this point.
Intuition tells me no, 92AF8E14-2DE9-46DA-9F59-348AC41814FA.jpegbut I once trashed my PTO backhoe pump when I hooked up to my woodsplitter wrong.
(20 years previous from that, my father wrecked the pump in his Ford 4400 when he did the same thing)

No, it won't damage anything in that case. It will just work the opposite from what you have setup. Let's say you push a button to close the grapple, if the hoses are connected wrong, it will open instead of closing. I hope it makes sense.

That makes perfect sense and what I thought would happen. Unfortunately I have a reputation for being able to break an anvil...

I did read the manual for the controls but just want to be extra careful... I can’t afford to be without the tractor right now.

If you're just powering a cylinder or a hydraulic motor by using the tractor remotes or 3rd function, there is no damage if you connect the hoses wrong. The worst it can happen is the thing work the opposite of what you wanted.

However, if you're powering something that has it's own valve, ie: log splitter, it does matter how you connect those as it will damage things.

Usually Grapple couplers are reversed so they can't be hooked up backwards. One male and one female on the tractor. Same on the Grapple hoses. If you don't want to do that, put a zip tie on one circuit. One on the Grapple hose coupler. One on the matching tractor coupler.

I color code mine with electrical tape. Although colored zip ties will work just as well.

Do it as I described and you don't need colored zips. Simply put a black zip on the matching couplers and leave the other two blank.

For the grapple I hook it up either way. Just takes one push on the valve lever to see what way is open and what way is closed.

But I did use color coded ties to simplify the top and tilt hookup. Without that it can be difficult to get the hoses paired up and the three valves operating consistently.

In my opinion that is still coding them. Mentioning color coding means if he has rear remotes, anyone reading can apply the same concept.
