Would help to know your general location. In my part of the world that is called Dove Weed or Texas Croton. Hi-Yield 2,4-D Amine No. 4 applied at a rate of 1-1/3 fl. ozs. per 1 gal. of water should do the trick, but it's probably to late in the year to waste the spray. Mow it down and hit it in the spring.

We always called it Goat Weed. It will spread rapidly and take over your pasture. Mowing generally keeps it in check if you mow to keep it from seeding out. 2,4-D will kill it but you likely need to keep your critters off when spraying with any type of herbicide. They used to make a wax bar impregnated with 2,4-D that you could mount on a spray boom and drag it over the tops of weeds rather than spraying.

Still need to keep animals off the pasture. Maybe section off the pasture with an electric fence and do half at a time, but again, short mowing will do away with them and allow the grass to fill back in. 3 or more times per year will keep most weeds in a pasture at bay without resorting to herbicides.

There is a liguid sprayed chemical called "Glyphosate", 41% working chemical, the exact formula as Monsanto's Round-up at about 2/3rds. the cost of Round up. Use maximum 6 ounces per gallon. Any more is a waste. Go to your county Extention service and they can advise you on when to spray, probably at least twice, once in the spring and once in summer. Check it out.

This will kill everything in your pasture too. ... Well maybe not resistant Pigweed. If you have that too, you have a bigger problem.

Yes, it can be used as a post and pre-emergent. The best thing is to go to your couny extension officer. The people are true experts and they know their area. This is why they are here. Also, look up The Noble Foundation. They may some info.
