Tractor Sizing Can a Deere 4720 pull a 6 row planter ?

I will add this, even if it can pull it in perfect soil on flat ground you will be in trouble if you find a soft spot. I started pulling my 4 row with a Farmall 45A just because it is usually available and it does it but it is fairly light and I wouldn't even attempt to pull a 6 row unit with that tractor.

Are you pulling it in prepared soil or as was said is this a no till application? Is it flat ground or hilly? If you are in prepared ground then I would say yes you can pull it ok, it would be better with a bigger tractor but yours will work.

I think it is a function of power to weight ratio. If it were a big framed tractor, then I would say that it should pull it. However, this tractor is a light frame, light tractor with an engine that is not designed to lug particularly well. It builds its power by revving up, and doesn't have a lot of torque down low in the rpm band. Torque is what you need to pull an implement like that. This tractor is made for front end loader work and large gardening type jobs.
It might do it, but it is not optimum.
