Can a 47" snowblower that was connected to a JD 400 work on a 2305?

I got a used 47" sb off craigslist and was told it would connect to a 400 and 425. The dealer says a sb that connects to a 425 will also connect to a 2305, but I'm having trouble finding an adapter. I've attached two pictures of the sb and the mounting kit that came with it (had to remove it to get it out of my truck). The mount is about 2-3" wider than the mount on the front of the 2305, and the holes don't really line up. I only spent 5 minutes looking at it so far, but I'm hoping there is an adapter. I have a 54" front blade, but the piston on the mount blocks where the pto will go.

I've looked on John Deere's web site, but I think I have an older model snowblower, and can't tell what adapter I need.

That looks like the 420 version, need a model number off the tag to know for sure. This is not the lighter "quick tach" version that would go on a 425. There isn't an adapter unless you have some iron next to your welder! You'll have to drill new holes to rotate the gearbox, and replicate the pins and holes that are on the back of your blade. This can be done as my brother put a 59 blower (47 twin) onto a quick tach from his x748

I can't find a model number on it. When you say 420, you mean it came off a 420 tractor right? I looked at the sb attachment for the 420 on the john deere site and the attachment for the tractor looks similar, so maybe I got my hands full making this work. Oh well, I plan on taking it apart to clean, oil, paint, etc so drilling some holes and welding so extra mounting brackets will just be more fun

ok, I've been doing some reading and the rpm's for the 420 are only 2000, and the 2305 runs at 5400 rpm's. Won't that be a problem for this blower to run on my tractor. How hard is it to rig up a gear to run it slower (if I need to).

Something doesn't sound right. Do you mean 540 rpm? If so, the JD parts list for this blower frame shows a gear reduction box installed on some versions of it. There is a case, some bearings and 2 gears. That would mean a shaft rotation change, too, wouldn't it?

The 2305 mid-PTO, which is what the snowblower uses, is 2100 RPM.

yes, I mean 540rpm, or whatever is listed for the 2305. Like I said, I've been on the road since I bought this thing and have only been able to do a little searching in the evening. But if the mid pto is 2100, then I should be good to go! But now it looks like I need to verify that I have the pto turning in the correct direction.

Can anyone tell me what model this is (47" obviously, but what model number should I be looking under when looking on JD's web site)? I know I have to order a pto shaft for the 2305 and then go from there when I start fabbing up the mount.
