So, this seems to be the perfect camp for you. I think the work associated with it is part of the fun for you. Here is my question - what does this look like 20 or 25 years from now?

Obviously, it would still be a great 3 season getaway.
  • Is lower effort winter experience possible?
  • Snowmobile in instead of plowing and rolling trails?
  • Roof strong enough to handle snow load without pulling snow off?
  • Ground mounted solar panels (instead of roof)?
  • Plus ???

Heres a quick update and will answer airbisket questions from home.

Looks like we'll warm into the 40s again today. Snow is settling down but that's ok. Got in a nice long ski in this morning across ours and state lands and did see dated moose tracks along a swamp. Will post photos of them when home if they're any good. Taking good snow photos is tough. Will clear more trails this afternoon. No wind and clear skies here and the solar is charging like crazy again with power to spare.

Got much done in the 40s temps today and was not as warm as yesterday. This sun is getting intense and feeling like spring. Did two skis, Cleared tail and will be grilling steak tonight. Does it get any better than this? 😎

This trip has been plagued with poor cell service than average. We seen some drizzle here this am at freezing temps but looking at the forecast, the base will hold up fine AND we got more snow in the forecast. This the best and most skiing we've done out here this winter 👏.

Guys, pulled in at dusk and loaded the sled. Rode in and we could see the stars come out. Was at freezing when we got a fire going and still getting camp warmed up now. Had smoked fish, salad and cheese and crackers for dinner. Plus mi white wine. Could it get any better than this?
Only if the fish were biting. (y)

Skied around and across the swamp we proudly own  and found "not fresh" tracks of our resident moose. Also noted browsing of the swamp brush new growth tips. As we understand, this is what they feed on over the winter.

Why would we need a snowmobile? You might forget, we groom trails to ski.

If the roof would need to updated to a higher PSF, might be cheaper to build a whole new structure.

This fall, we sold the atv that came with a property, to a retired electrician who now does solar setups. He says he'll be back to sell and set up one for us and it will of course be ground.

I know you plow, groom and roll trails. I just thought at 80+ it would just be easier to snowmobile in.

Have you consider a trail cam ArlyA ? get some pictures of your moose's and other wildlife, also a setup with salt blocks help luring them in.

The trail cam we had failed but we now have 2 new ones, uninstalled.. We also see the tracks as yo who as walked past. In the early snow the moose did walk past but not since.

Here is a photo of plowing snow which is moving it from position A to B.

Here is another that's rolling or grooming the snow which is knocking air from it. Similar but different.

arly, how do you like those rollers. YTS sent out a depressing email yesterday or the day before with a big sale on their standard version. I've always used a traditional styled one.
