We are getting with a realtor to look at the inside of the log house we looked at earlier. No, I have not become fond with log homes. Then we'll do a "drive by" of another we've not seen before. Life goes on.

Did not take any pics today worth posting. The log home is only modestly interesting after viewing its insides. The other property had buildings that's value was only in razing.

Sorry I've not been posting here folks. Property's do pop up but at a much lower rate due to snow issues. We'll post when something interesting shows up.

Smart to not be in a rush and wait for the right one to come along.

We are at best, have a low interest in a log home. Here the maintenance cycle on them is 4 years.

Split log home is an option a little less maintenance still has log home ambiance. Not asking but personally if it's a vacation type cabin the less maintenance the better for my lifestyle anyway. So vinyl siding with vinyl windows brick molding already molded in window frames. If I was aware of using corrugated metal for siding at the time of building probably would have spent more and went that route. Hopefully you'll walk onto a potential property and envision everything you want done to develop and build for your lifestyle in your budget. Good luck.

One we looked at near Saxon WI yesterday. To much $, to many open fields. Building construction questionable and low snow.

Property searches seem to take a long time. My sister and her husband looked for around 3 years before they finally found one that ticked most of their boxes. Keep at it. I know it's frustrating.

When we bought our current house, that search took about 3 years. Funny that many property's we've looked at were purchased 2 or 3 years ago and now up FS again.

Im thinking some people buy property up there either never experienced a hard winter before, have great plans to develop a property having little to no idea the amount of time, money, and hard work it will take.

Most of these owners are seasonal.

Most of these owners are seasonal.
One of my old neighbors up there bought a 4 season house to live in renovated the place, never experienced winters like that so they sold and moved back to Texas believe a few years back. Had a nice smaller cabbed Kubota tractor with a front mount snowblower. Definitely not you, but some people don't fully understand the hard work and complex nature of building up there let alone living in that area even if your a diy person.

Did the area you're looking in get a lot of buyers during Covid? I know people who panic bought rural properties, moved there and then came back to the city pretty quick. One went back to NYC after a single upstate NY winter.

Keep an open mind also. The house we’ve lived in the last 28 years we almost didn’t look at.

A guesstimation of the sellers. Unfinished building project 1/3, purchased in the past 5 years and now wants to sell 1/3, and the last 1/3 is the owners passed.

We did but I'd guess most of them purchased in town.
