We did not head to Rhinelander after NOAA increased snow to our south but did go to LAnse after we found Otter cargo sleds in stock there but that was a much shorter drive anyway. We got the next sized smaller sled than the one seen above. Today we'll be heading to camp to clear the snow off the trailer roof off and roll that snow down on the one mile trail in to camp. We hope to leave the new cargo sled there as well. We will try to get pics for you guys.

We made a quick trip to camp today to grab things we'd left there and shovel off the storage trailer, plus roll new snow down. Had good snow there, more then we did in town. Also some photos of the parking lot.

A touch of breeze off the lake, I'd reckon. Pretty low ice coverage this year, though it will probably grow quickly these next couple weeks! 0°F down in the SE corner of the state this morning, no breeze.

Correct, the lakes warmth. But it being near zero, we are still seeing continuous snow.

It's a great year for lake effect snow with the warmer fall leading to warmer lake temps, resisting ice-up despite all this cold air blowing down from Canada. I can remember some years that we get almost fully iced over by mid January and then it shuts the lake effect snow off. Just cold and miserable after that point, haha (but less cloudy?).

Minnesota, Wisconsin and the UP should be called Lower Canada;)

Yesterday I came across the vision that James Polk had laid out for the US states... pretty wild.

Much of Canada (especially the population centers) are south of most of the northern border of the lower 48. Draw a line from Maine to the WA/Canadian border (near Bellingham, iirc). I'd be happy to trade Minnesota and Lower Michigan to Canada for the Western provinces.

Kinda sorta maybe not....

Only 10-12% of Canada land mass is below the 49th parallel. However, 70% of the Canadian population lives below that line.

Hence, the population centers aside.

Much of Canada's landmass is uninhabited and 26% in the actual Tundra is uninhabitable.

Got this battery thing yesterday so its now being charged. With our forecast now so darn cool, we'll be heading down to camp for the day and we'll get the drag hauled down with us. That means we'll get there in the am and roll the path in and get a fire going and have lunch, then drag them in the afternoon. Short trip indeed.

Dearest is off today so we're heading to camp asap to groom the trail in and leave an implement there. It snow some overnight but it being lake snow, the drive there shouldn't be to bad. Will try get photos.

A report from camp. Near zero here and snowing. I've made several passes with drag while dearest is raking roof snow. She got the solar panel going again. Real, real pretty here and wind not as bad as town.
