Hello all,

I am due for a new mower sometime this year after I blew up an old Simplicity last summer. I have decided on a CUT over the zero-turn due to the added versatility and other reasons. Back in the day, my father used a Cub Lowboy 154 to mow this same area.

I am considering a B2620 or B2920 with the 60" MMM. I have several questions for owners:

1. How is the cut quality?

2. How does the mower handle rougher lawn?

3. What is the typical cutting speed?

4. How is the ride quality while mowing?

5. Any other advice and feedback is greatly appreciated.

I know that the mower deck is not as deep as the Z-series zero turns, but I am curious on the effect on cut quality and speed.

Thank you in advance!

We bought a J.D. GT245 from the previous owner of our house. It was fine for the 3 acres, but we bought some additional property and bought the B2920 for it. We kept the GT and I continued to use if for the mowing because we had it on our home property, but the B cuts just as well. We have now taken the GT to our home in FL, so will be using the B for all the cutting.

1. As mentioned, the B cuts as well as our garden tractor did.
2. The mower does fine on rough property. I have used it when the grass isn't too high on our other property which is at best fields. I also use it with a brush hog on that property.
3. If the grass isn't too high or heavy it will mow in high range. Certainly I can mow considerably faster on it that I did on the GT.
4. The larger tires make it a lot smoother than the GT, even going faster.
5. I think the small B is a nice tractor for the 3 acres we live on. I probably would not have bought it had we not have bought the other property, but now that we have it, can't believe how much I use it. Clearing my 400' drive after last weeks 10" snow would have been a challenge with the GT.

I bought a b2620 last year. I had problems with the front anti scalp wheel brackets breaking off of the mower deck. My dealer wasn't interested in making it right and I wasn't interested in fighting with them. I told them I had a 10 year old cub cadet that still has the original wheel brackets intact. My wife broke the first one and I just figured she caught something, surely a well built Kubota product would not fail. Then two days later the other one fell off and went under the mower deck, man that made a noise. I was mowing in the middle of the yard and I am positive I didn't catch anything. The thing actually worked fairly good without the anti scalp wheels. The brackets broke right at the neck where they weld to the vertical holder. If you look close you will see that is definitely the weakest point. Personally, I think it is a bad design and the metal on the bracket is way to thin. (Something around 1/16") anyway I took the deck to a friend who is a expert welder. He is going beef up the bracket. I am confident when he gets done with it, it won't break off. I am sure your dealer will tell you it is not a problem. I would tell them if they do I expect you to fix them without question. After all it's a $14000 lawn mower.

I am not a fan of suspended decks but such seems to be the only decks available for SCUTs from any manufacturer these days. This is likely due to cost and the elimination of position control on SCUTs.

Recently, I shopped several SCUT brands when considering replacing my 1993 Kubota B1750HST. I eliminated Kubota early due to the light weight deck and flimsy looking, non-castering anti scalping wheels. I eliminated all but the Iseki-made Massey Ferguson which has a more substantial deck with castering anti scalping wheels as well as a lower RPM engine with greater displacement.

Eventually, I decided to keep my B1750HST due position control, Bi-Speed Turn, individual brakes and much heavier, terrain-following deck with proper HD gage wheels.
