Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I am awaiting delivery of an Original Tractor Cab Company soft sided cab for my BX2370-1.

It looks like the installation will leave the ROPS outside the cab.

I am considering buying the auxillary heater from ACME OUTFITTERS as well. Its a $49 option, directly wiring into the battery.

The photos show it mounted to the ROPS. That won't work for the BX 2370-1 because the ROPS is outside that cab.

Does anyone have this heater? Where have you mounted it? Is it worth getting or will it just be too much of a pain in the arse to use?

Thanks for the help.

I have an Original Cab on my BX24. Once I got all the cracks sealed from air blowing in with some 3M automotive trunk seal, all I need is my trusty Lava Buns microwaved seat cushion to keep me warm most days. Long days of work still get cold but nothing like being out in the open using the snowblower.

You will need to block off the center air intake, remove the two plastic pieces below it to let air in from below or have very cold feet!, cut a piece of carpet for under the seat to prevent cold air from being sucked in around the seat. I also added a rolled up moving blanket and placed it around the rear outside of the seat to block any leaking air from behind the seat. Adding a little sealing tape at the roof inside corners - basically any place you can see daylight will suck in cold air and blowing snow also. But even though I have thought about adding a heater from the radiator, I never have needed it enough to find a good mounting place as the space is limited.

I generally snow blow in a sweatshirt and gloves with the cab on. A great purchase. I leave mine assembled and hoist it off the BX and hang it from the rafters during after the winter. To store it, I use a bicycle hoist and a lashing strap to keep it securely attached to the hoist.

My ROPS is outside the cab too.

BTW - I have a 300 watt aux heater like the one that you're looking at; bought it for my truck cab to keep the dogs from freezing on a trip. The heat that it produces is marginal at best and 300 watts @ 12V is 25 amps at full draw - quite a lot for our small 40A alternators. Mine has been unused for many years. (save your money and buy a microwave heated seat cushion like I have)

Guess I will start with this then and see how it goes. Thanks for the input.

Gulf,

I agree with Peter, I have a OTC cab on my BX2370. I am the biggest wheather wimp ever, I piss and moan about how cold I am from September 30 th till June 1st.
I typically blow snow in a light jacket and I'm fine. The only thing I do is I keep a couple of those hand warmers in my pockets because the only thing that gets cold is my hand on the hydraulic lever.
As Peter mentioned, try to close off as many of the holes as you can, I use vinyl tape as it comes off easy in the spring.
Try it for a winter, I think you'll be surprised to see that just being out of the wind makes ALL the difference.

Cheers,
BN
