You might try the Lawn & Garden forum also. I know some of the folks there have Bolens machines and may know if a similar model came with power steering.

Thanks for the input fellows. I went over to Lawn & garden as you suggested. One person over there wanted to know if I didn't like the answer I was given at this forum. (starting to feel like a yo yo)I just thought maybe someone was aware of someone else having a problem & had fixed it. I know that I can fix it with enough time & money, just looking for an alternative.
