C4005 pto dropping out when bush hog engaged

I am considering buying a 650 hr C4005-DI with FEL. I told the seller I also wanted a bush hog since that's mainly what I will be using it for. He just called me and said when he hooked up the used $900 bush hog, the pto keeps dropping out so he took it to his tractor repair person to troubleshoot/repair. My question is should I bail out of this purchase?

I'm not sure what "dropping out" means...does it just stop? Is the 4005 an independent PTO? If so it sounds like the PTO clutch is shot...if so, a new complete clutch "pack" would need to be installed...meaning splitting the tractor...let us know what the guy says..BobG in VA

The PTO shifter bracket shaft was broke. It wasn't keeping the gear engaged. They replaced it .

Did they have to open the tractor in two or is this a fix from the outside and how much did it cost?
