Loader BXing stumps!

Been working to clear a huge pile of debris that has been down for two and half years. Stuff is breaking down rotting but I have some decent sized stumps I am burning up as well. I am maxing out the FEL and bucket hydraulics. Some stumps I chain and lift and drag if too big. Anyone else wrestling with stumps too big for their BX?

I take on too much with my BX as well. Between large rocks, brush and cut trees the BX earns its keep.
Takes a little longer but gets it done.

A mix of cherry, maple, hem-fir, and some alder. The largest stumps are going to end up as a backdrop to a pond. The third pic use to be a natural pond driven by a few springs on the hillside above. The guy that cleared about a half acre pushed the biggest stuff in the pond during the moisture is rotting the pile, breaking down the debris and I think making some good soil/compost. Eventually I vision a pond a little more manicured after digging it out and 'processing' the compost.

1. How did the big pile get there? What machine did the work?
2. Where (or why) are you moving the stuff in the big pile?

I find that my BX can handle more weight with the forks than the bucket. The forks and frame, when tilted back, brings the weight a lot closer in than the bucket. Makes a big difference. With lifting and carrying big loads, the weight is usually all out in front of the bucket, the forks tilted back can get it almost right on top of the cylinder piston. That's a difference of almost 3 feet.

get the FEL forks under, tilt back, chain it into the fEL and drag it. You can drag more than you can lift. When oiling onto the burn pile I just push them up the pile till they will rest. Come over next week and watch me move some.

I have had some stumps that were too big for my La724 loader even with SSQA forks. Heck I had a stump so big it maxed out a Cat tehandler with a 6,500 pound capacity. I had to use my backhoe to dig off a 1/2 ton of dirt before the cat would budge it. The stump almost perfectly filled the bed on a 1 ton dump truck. I think Xfaxmans cool Bobcat would have finally met its match with that stump. My dad had the bright idea to cut through the top of the stump down to the root ball with a chainsaw. Then use the tooth bar to pry open the stump splitting it in half. That didn't work as planned breaking off three teeth from the tooth bar. Using a full sized backhoe with stronger teeth it actually worked.,

Hired a guy with a big excavator, not sure the size but made made pretty quick work of the hillside. My goal for now is to clean the pile and recover the area. I told the guy that did the clearing it would take me years to pick the pile and burn... he said just leave it... each year the pile will get smaller. I'm just not a patient guy.

I don't know if the pond will come to fruition as my better half thinks it will attract mosquitos. Many folks around here have issues with them especially just after sunset but for some reason we have zero of the little buggers on our property and immediate surroundings.

I would like to come over... I'm traveling to BC Kamloops for a few days but will try. I have seen many of your pics! Looks like the rain is holding off for today so far... so time for me to get back at it! More pics this evening.
