When I was mowing this past weekend (full throttle), I noticed the tractor start to lower the RPM's by itself, cough a little and then back to full rev's. I dismissed it. A few minutes later, it kept doing it so frequently that I couldnt mow the lawn anymore. Alas, I brought her into my shop. It sounded like fuel starvation, diesels arent that complicated. I started with the filters. One was brand new (underneath the chassis) and the engine one tested. Both are fine. I pulled the line out of the pump and noticed barely dribbles of fuel coming out with the key on.

I took the deck off and starting chasing the fuel line underneath. something caught my eye. One of the zip ties keeping everything neat and tidy down there was so tight it was kinking the goodyear fuel line. I snipped it, replaced it with a new one (not so tight, duh), and then tested the flow again. Night and day. It went from a stream to niagra falls. I reconnected everything and finished mowing with authority.

Just wanted to share my experience in case this was happening with other bx'ers. This obviously was done at the assembly plant. I dont know why it took 125 hr's to present itself. Its fixed now so im happy :)

good luck.

Was the kink upstream or downstream of the filters? Just speculating here... if it was upstream (i.e. closer to the tank, not the engine), you may have had a clog where it was kinked, that got loosened when you fixed the hose. That would suggest some kind of crud in the fuel, and hopefully one of the filters captured the debris.

The kink was about 1 foot before the first fuel filter. So if there was crud, that filter should have gotten it now. Do you know if the fuel tank has a screen in it?

wow , you kidding ? a ziptie. Thats something for the books! good catch and glad you found it. as for a screen for tank hose outlet, I wish I knew. Only way to to tell is take line out as the tank has wierd shape to it and we cant tell if something blocking the outlet or not. any takers anyone?

Glad you found your problem. I had a similar problem with my L3130. Mine turned out to be bad fuel from my supplier....they are making good on it....

Nice - That's the kind of thing you might find fast (Nice algorythm for diagnosis) or could take forever and trips to the dealer!

Completely agree! I wanted to avoid dealer at all cost even if its under warranty (it is). The last time I went to the dealer for a bad fuel sender, I got it back with no taillights and a wiring mess. I guess you have to take the rear fender off to access the sender unit (the part that went bad on mine). What ever happen to testing stuff after taking it apart. It seems whether it be tractors, cars, etc, whenever they go in for warranty work, I have to play clean up afterwards. I guess that the perfectionisnm in me.

Who knows how long and how much they would take apart for the dealer to find this problem.

And I thought it was just with me and my dealer impressions/experiences.

There is no filter in the tank. I actually bought a screen that just drops down in the mouth of my tank and poor fuel in then remove it and put cap back on. So you better strain your fuel before it hits the tank.
