Hey Guys

Just a after a bit of advice before I have to call the dealer (who I have next to no confidence in)

I have 2 leaks on my relatively new (30 hours) BX25D - this (red) fitting on the return (?) line from the loader ram has just started leaking:

I'm not quite sure how that fitting works, is it simply a matter of tightening it? It's a bit hard to tell, but I think it may be leaking from the crimped part. Is that sort of thing covered under warranty? The dealer is about an hour away don't want to get them out if it's just a nip up with the spanner that's required...

Also I got a 60" mmm deck with the tractor which I used for about 30 seconds to test it, then not too long ago removed from the tractor and it's just been sitting (flat) in the shed. The other week I discovered a pool of hydraulic (?) fluid under it. Being a tractor newbie I didnt even realise the deck contains oil so I cleaned it up and thought it must have come from the fluid I spilled when pulling out the mesh hydraulic filter in the transmission to check it for blockages - my BX25 gets the terrible squealing noise after it gets hot :( That's yet another problem... anyway within a few days the pool of fluid was back, so it's obviously leaking out of the deck somehow - from the underside it looks like as I can't see anything coming from the top... again is this just a case of new deck something not tightened properly or does it need to go in for warranty repair??

If I get the dealer out is 30 hours close enough to 50 for the initial service or would you suggest I wait until the 50??

I haven't exactly had a good run with this tractor so far, but I absolute love it and am finding I'm using it a lot more than I even expected to.

Grease leaking from the gearbox of the deck is more than likely one of the two shaft seals. Not hard to replace just a little time consuming depending on which one it is.

All your issues are warranty claims. Call the dealer and get him to fix the problems.

Not common, all under warranty so get them fixed. You should of got the owners manual with it.
I know the workshop manual is kind of expensive ($80 US) but a very small fortune on what you spent on the Bx25. Might help you diagnose the probelms and help later down the road. Then the 3rd manual is the Patrs manual. I'm only handy if I know how it goes together, so the parts manual helps. Its not quite as expensive but you can create 1 too by under Kubota website under parts, pick the Bx25 and/or other Kubota implements, printing all the .pdf's, put them in a 3 ring binder

You can download the BX25 Owners Manual here... Kubotabooks.com until you can get yours from the dealer.

Thanks for the tips on the manuals - unfortunately the illustrated parts list there has some sort of IP check and restricts to US markets only. Will have to see if I can find similar on the australian site, though it's pretty rubbish normally. It is better having a printed copy too isn't it, so I might look into purchasing one.

Yeah I'm experienced working on cars, but this is my first tractor and obviously a different world, you don't have all the hydraulics on cars so that in particular is completely foreign to me. Also the average tractor owner is it seems expected to do more maintenance work between services than the average car owner so I've got to get on top of all that...

So I got the service guy from the dealer out yesterday he seemed pretty good actually - was saying he's never seen that issue with a new deck leaking like that before - I'm wondering if it's relating to them fitting a mulching kit for me on delivery, but not sure. Anyway he's ordering a new seal for that and was glad I haven't really used it as apparently it's pretty easy to kill that gearbox when there's any sort of oil leak as it doesn't hold a huge amount of oil.

Fixing the leak on the tractor was just a matter of nipping up that fitting - I was trying to tighten the wrong side of it - the 'nut' closest to the crimp doesn't tighten it's the other 2 that should tighten together... he said they are tightened when it's assembled but can loosen off slightly in the initial use period he usually finds after they are re-tightened once they don't cause any further issues.

I'm still a bit unsure whether the pressure relief squeal when hot is an issue or not. I've read some of the discussion threads on here - the hard thing with it is the machine (transmission in particular) needs to have been working hard for 30 mins or so before it starts to occur, so the dealers a) aren't familiar with it and b) it's difficult to demo the problem. I tried recording it on the phone, but when I went to play it to the dealer yesterday, it kind of just sounds like normal played back off the phone...

Glad the problems are getting taken care of.
