BX25D seat is priced way too high from dealer! Look at 'SURPLUS CENTER.COM'. I installed the 440 HIGH BACK CORDURA item #1-3208 @ $224.00.
They have a vinyl high back too for $204.00. #1-3572.
All you do is take off slider from new seat, use 1/4" longer bolts/nuts on 2 front mounting holes. on rear I used 2 pcs. of 1/8"X3/4" flat approx. 6" long with slight 'S' bend to reach from factory bracket to seat. The nice part is the seat belt and safety switches are all maintained. I think new seat and raising my steering wheel are the 2 best mods I've so far.

Thanks. That's great info. I like the looks of that vinyl one. I've got to go to my Kubota dealer now and sit on and measure the one for the BX25D. I think I've read somewhere on here that it's not a bolt-in replacement but it sure looks good and plenty of people have mentioned its comfort. But as you say, I think it's lots of $$$.
I'm envious of your cab. My cab is a balaclava and ski goggles and the last time I blew it was like 8 below. Thanks again.

Looking to replace my bx25 seat too. Vinyl starting to crack..... Dealer quote here in SE MA is almost $300!!!! Has anyone found any other reasonable alternatives? Plain and simple OK for me. Looked up a Northern Tool seat for about $100... Bolt patterns look similar. Only 4 bolts on factory seat. Anyone done any other research? Thanks for reading. ...

Just purchased a 2011 BX 25 and the seat is shot!! My machine has backhoe and was wondering if this seat will work? Looks really nice and would love to install if it will work. Any information will be much appreciated..

I tried a michigan seat from northern (320) on my 1870. It was too high. Too much modifying to make it fit down in the tractor more. Took it back and checked the next best kubota seat with adjustable back. It was 800 at the dealer. I walked out.

Hmm, that's too bad. That's the seat I always thought I'd replace my OEM version with if the time was right. My original seat is "delaminating" some where the seat meets the backrest. The vinyl skin is coming loose from the padding. Hasn't ripped yet and doesn't effect my comfort level, such as it is/isn't, on the OEM seat, but the writing is on the wall it would seem. Thanks for the feedback on the Michigan seat.
Chris, my vinyl skin separated from the padding too and I know what caused it - kneeling in the seat to work the BH. That's not my problem with this seat though. I have back issues and any long tractor jobs put me out of commission for a day or two so I'm looking for a more ergonomic model.
I just returned from the dealer. The BX25D seat appears to be about 1 1/4" higher than the stock BX25 seat (putting you farther from the steering wheel), is heavier to turn, and doesn't clear the ROPS as nicely when you spin it. You have to fiddle with it. However, it is much more comfortable to sit in. I have the parts list for both and there are a couple other parts that would need to be replaced. The dealer said they are going to make this swap for another customer and figured it would be about $1k. The seat alone was quoted to me at $720. Not sure what I'm going to do at this point.

I hear you. My back/neck can act up too and I've noticed that the ride is almost unbearable when mowing. However, I don't mow with mine often - kept the old garden tractor for that. When I bought my old BX1860, I had the dealer price out the BX2660 seat, which was more comfortable sitting in it (never drove a BX2660 so can't say that seat rode better). They quoted me $800 for the BX2660 seat. I said nevermind! I did add extra springs to my BX25 seat which has helped some, but I don't think you can make this mod to the non backhoe models. It was a cheap upgrade and I can live with my seat for now given I don't mow with it, meaning I'm not driving it across my bumpy lawn at a fast pace.
