My BX24 ran well today blowing about 12 driveways w/ 10 inches of slush . . . problem was that the machine would not stop running even after the key was placed in the off position then removed. Not even the PTO kill switch in the seat would do it.
I came inside and looked up this forum to find what was going on and saw a number of links to solenoid and fuse issues - so I went back out to the tractor to introduce myself to the solenoid and fuses - found that it had shut down during my absence.
After poking around for a bit I discovered that my problem was actually that the battery cable had wiggled off the battery post and contact had been lost. I replaced the cable tightened it up and the machine started and turned off normally. Problem solved.
I would not have guessed that the machine would behave this way with the battery disconnected - perhaps it was just a strange coincidence of timing, anyway - I thought I'd add this scenario to the books.
Cheers, Steve Bruneau
