Heh. Yeah, it definitely pays to shop around. I was surprised as well because the lowest I had seen elsewhere was $312. My dealer seems to have very good prices on things. The tractor base price was $15,700 - about $1K lower than anyone else in the area.

I have a wallenstein thumb that I use quit often to pick up large rocks and to move and cut trees.
Yesterday I bent the thumb picking up pieces of cut granite blocks from an old foundation used to build a new retaining wall.
The thumb still works fine but doesn't close fully to accept the pin, this thumb is awesome, but has 5 holes for the pin to fit through, if one plate gets bent, it won't slide in.
Driving with heavy weight in the BH is safer if you balance it with weight in the FEL. This job I put 1 block(350#+) in the FEL, and 1 on the BH for each trip. DRIVE SLOW

Thumb came yesterday (after a lot of UPS nonsense, since the guy who shipped it indicated I had to sign for it ) and installed it last evening. It took about 9 seconds to install it, and then I went out and picked up a large section of tree I had cut down earlier. The front wheels started lifting off the ground, which was a rather frightening first-time moment. Then it started pouring rain, so I dropped the tree and hurried back to the garage (remembering to fold the ROPS!).
Point being, this thumb is going to be quite useful. I took down about 25 dead trees around my house last summer, and I still have about half of them to get rid of. This will be much better than a timberjack to lift them and a towstrap on a truck or tractor to drag them away.
