Some pics of stubborn stumps I removed with the BX24 machine.

I smile when I see you guys digging stumps with your BX24's. Stumps larger than the tractor and you still get them out. Has to be a credit to the operator also, in persistance, and ability to operate it and understand just what needs to be done to actually get it done. My hat's off to you guys!
Kind of reminds me of using a spoon to dig a pond, LOL!

Yep, it is amazing what the small machines can do when determined enough. The only down side of continually doing a job larger than the capacity of the machine is the stress and wear it applys to the boom, dipper, and wear pins.

I dont think these machines have replacable bushings do they?

I think it is amazing what they will do when asked but keep in mind they are like any piece of equipment and the harder you use them the shorter the usable life is.

Take your time and work smarter so your machine doesn't have to work harder.

Good luck and happy digging...:D

You guys are 100% correct in the statements about thinking the activity thru and also working smarter so as not to overload the tractor. If you look at the pictures I posted above you will see the large leverage arm I left on the stump, and also the chain tied directly to the top of it. That chain was connected to a come-a-long and a tree about 30 feet away as that was the closest most rigid dead-head I could find. Funny thing was when I pulled tension on the stump with the come-a-long it really didn't move that much until I got under the back side of the stump with the hoe bucket and gave a good tug.....then it just moved and pivoted around the center of the stump. Believe it or not, the real work came when the stump was broke loose, and flopped over. At that time I had to disconnect the (2) stumps that had grown together, and get as much dirt off them both as possible as I wanted to burn them.

Anyways, I had a lot of fun on this project as it was my first really somewhat bigger job to do with the machine. Needless to say, I was smiling the whole time I was digging....sort of like "pickin-n-grinning".......
