Hi folks, new to the forum, but read threads often...

I'm looking for a small TLB for landscaping work I do for my customers, but it has to be light enough not to tear up the lawns. Settling on a used BX24 with 100 hours vs. a used B2620 with LA364 loader and 50 hours. I would then buy a BH77 or a woods BH80X.

I'm concerned that the BX24 may be a bit too small, any opinions thoughts?

From past experience, if you are a little concerned about size of BX24 I would lean towards the B2620. I think it would perform a little better in long run for light commercial use (no hydraulic fan with more hydro flow, integrated FEL valve, ground clearance, etc.) with about the same mobility in tight spaces.
Either one is light enough for dry lawns, but if you are very concerned about lawns, consider turf tires, though R4's are ok with common sense on turf.
BTW, a B2620 would require Kubota BH65 or Woods 70X BH.

I assume you've calculated the buying/running cost vs.
hire of equipment as required. Hope you don't buy all this
stuff , only to have little paid use in the long run ..........

There isn't a HUGE difference between the BX and B 20 series. More similar than different. The slightly higher hydraulic pumping power of the B would be handy. Beyond that, it's kinda all about the ground clearance difference. In the real world, the B has virtually twice the BX ground clearance. The weight difference is also rather insignificant. (oh yeah and no little fan on the B) Comes down the dollar difference, if any, I suspect.

Owned several of both and couldn't have said it any better myself.
Did a side by side review with pictures in the past of a BX2660 and B3200. Two biggest of each series at the time. Ground clearance and slightly bigger bucket was the main difference.
I guess if I was going for paid production I'd go for the one with the biggest bucket and most power since I'd be in a bigger hurry to get all jobs done. Time is money.

I would go with the 2620. I personally bought a BX25 in 09 and upgraded to the B3200 this past July because I wanted that extra weight and power. If I would have went with the B2620 in 09 I would have been happy with that purchase and not felt the need to upgrade. Like I read once, figure out what you want and go one size bigger. :D

I subscribe to the theory of buy the one you think will best meet your needs. If after a year your needs have changed or it doesn't meet your needs (to big or to little and I've done both) fess up to your mistake and trade for another one that you think is really the RIGHT one. Guess that's why I've visited Barlows 13 times and left with a new debt contract (one of those will be paid off in Dec 2011:)) with Kubota. I still have 5 Kubotas so they all haven't been mistakes and some of them met my needs at the time and then my needs changed.
My theory may cost a bit more money but maybe it will relieve some of the mental distress caused by worrying over making a mistake.:) OK some will say the extra debt causes more mental distress but that ain't so for all of us.:)

I personally would opt for the B2620. Like mentioned before, get the bigger tractor and you will likely end up having the right one vs. trading up in the future. :)

To me the only choice is the B2620 with a Kubota backhoe! Not the woods.

I have a 2920 and it doesn't tear up the grass in 2 wd,,, the lawn adapts to the 4wd after a few mows, I use r4's

Thanks! You guys/gals are great! It really helps to flesh out your thoughts with those who have been there/done that. I am confident that the BX24 will do the job, but I am just as convinced that the 2620 will do that job and more. I appreciate the feedback. Now... what about the ZD331? I'll post later... :)
