I have a 2008 BX24. I was getting ready to mow the grass and as I went to engage the mid P.T.O I heard a loud pop. So I turned the tractor off to take a look and there was fluid leaking from the mid P.T.O from where the spline and universal joint go into the mid P.T.O I had let my brother borrow the tractor to get some chores done around his place. When I got the tractor back, this happend and I got off to look at what might be wrong when I heard the loud pop. I first seen the fluid leaking from behind the universal joint, I looked to see if there was any cracks and there wasn't, and the only other thing I noticed was that the drive line didn't look like it was securely connected prior to this problem. Both ends where they join looked a little rusty. Like they had been apart. None the less, I have this fluid leak from the mid P.T.O and now I need to fix it. I'd prefer to do this myself. I can't find anyone else on any other site who has had this exact problem. I can't find a detailed diagram of the mid P.T.O. Everything under the BX24 looks really small and hard to get to. I just need to know if someone with the proper know how could tell me the proper procedure to disassemble and reassemble this so I can solve this problem. I have a 5+ acre farm that I work on daily, after I get hom from work. This tractor is my workhorse. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Tractor 1.JPG

Pull off that back half of the pto shaft (pull the outer ring on the shaft forward and pull the shaft off the pto spline). Clean it up good and maybe with a flashlight inspect the seal around the pto spline. Maybe it just needs a new seal. But that loud pop noise that started the leak doesn't sound good...

Hey there GolfAddict! Even if that's not it, you don't don't know how greatly I appreciate the advice. However, I just got home from working a 14hr shift. I haven't got'n a chance to pull the shaft off the spline and check that out yet, but will do so at 6 in the am. Can that seal be replaced easily from the outside? Oh, and I think, but am not sure, that that loud popping sound came from the drive shaft on the mid P.T.O side, hitting the mowing deck 1 maybe 2 x's as I was trying to engage the P.T.O to start mowing. When I first looked up under the tractor to see what was going on. That part of the drive line had orange paint on the end of it and both, parts of the drive lines were a little rusted. Like they weren't together. They were apart when I got off and seen the leak. I think maybe my little brother had taken the deck off when he was spreading gravel at his house and when he put the mowing deck back on, didn't put the universal joint (drive shaft) back together. But like I said, I didn't even get the P.T.O fully engaged. I barely went to engage it and as soon as I herd the pop I cut it off and let it set right there. I hope it's nothing major. And once again, I really appreciate your time, concern, and advice... I let you know in the am and keep you posted on my progress. If ever I make any more with my BX24. lol... Thanks
