Oil & Fuel BX24 engine stalling out, or coming close to it

My BX24 has started to no longer run perfectly. The engine starts running as though it is starving for fuel, usually when it's under a load such as driving into a pile of dirt, but not always. It seems that it also happens when I'm on a slope, sideways. I'm not talking about the normal laboring that it does when you're demanding more power; it's much more severe than that.

Based on its behavior, the first suspect was the fuel filter. I replaced that, but it still does it. I cleaned the air filter (Kubota dealer was closed today, so I couldn't get a new one - will do that next), but that also had no effect. Here are the other things I intend to try to cure this, probably in this order:

1. Replace the air filter. I expect this to do nothing.

2. Dump some injector cleaner into the tank. I expect this to do nothing.

3. Change to a different brand of fuel. I expect to do nothing.

4. Replace the fuel pump. If I do this, I hope that does something!

Any other suggestions on what to do here? I have large piles of dirt all over my front yard that are a little hard to move with the tractor sputtering when I try to get a scoop.

Ray, it is a fuel problem You might have junk in the tank.

From reading another thread, I learned that there is a second fuel filter. This answers the other thing I was wondering about today, in how it didn't make sense that the fuel filter came further down the line than the pump, when I thought there was just the one filter. So, I just went out and replaced the other filter. I do believe that was the culprit. I'll keep my fingers crossed as I sleep and test it out in the daylight.

sounds like feul issue for sure. Hopefully the second filter will solv eyour issues. Which one did you replace already ? the one underneath the BX or near engine ? Hopefully you haven't replaced the one underneath so when you go to replace the filter, I would take compressed air and blow the line back into the tank to make sure the tank inlet is not blocked.

Yes, it was the one underneath that I had not replaced. I replaced it last night, and then took a shower to rinse the diesel fuel off me that I wound up lying in. Is there really no fuel shut off from the tank? That's messed up, if so. I clamped the hose as best as I could, but I still wound up becoming a flammable person.

Just to follow up, I finally got some rain-free daylight to test the tractor out after replacing the second fuel filter, and it's back to running right again. Thank y'all.

I have a BX24 that does the same thing, on mine it is not the filter, usually when mine starts acting up I take the rubber line apart from the tank side of the filter and blow it back into the tank with a air hose blowgun, WARNING take the fuel tank cap off before you do this or you will smell lovely. I have a end that goes into my blowgun that will go into the rubber line and I use a vice grip to pinch the line closed

are you in low range or high? these tractors dont have much power in high range
