My LOCAL dealer says he's firm on the price for a BX24 at $16,900.00 plus 6% state sales tax. No extras . Most postings on here say people are paying $16,200 w/o tax.

Here's the problem.
A Kubota dealer 130 miles away in another state with NO SALES TAX says he sells the BX24 for $16,200. ($16,100 for me since I know 2 former customers of his) The dealer is quite good according to two friends who have both purchased tractors from this out of state dealer (one Kubota lawn tractor and one used John Deere FL) That's approx. $1700.00 in savings?

Any opinions? Just how important is the local dealer. Worth the savings?

Try Woodbury Tractor in Woodbury Ct.,. You'll never be happier with a dealer.

I purchased my tractor from Emerich's in NY and saved around $2,500 including all of the stuff I purchased with it, I find that the local dealers treat me just fine. I think "it is what it is" and a dealer will charge you the same for service and give you the same service no matter what, otherwise I wouldn't think that their business ethic is very good and I wouldn't use them. I have had one dealer tell me that he would give me "preference" for scheduling if I bought the machine from him but then in the same breath he gave me a pick up/drop off rate about triple another dealer, even if I purchased from him. I say, save the cash.

brad_oatley - where is Woodbury Tractor???? I was going to use Sibley.

Bob is a great guy, one of the best dealers in the NE. Unfortuantly he is not a Kubota dealer.

Been talking over a B24 here in central Texas for around $15,600 w/o tax. 60" mower deck was $1600. I think the prices here in Texas have generally been lower than way up north. I'm very tempted, but I need to get rid my old B7100. Sorta hoped it would die, but it keeps going and going. I think dealer selection is a most important criteria. Over the long haul a good dealer's help and advice is worth a fair amount of price differential to me.

I am having the same question re. buying locally. There's a place in KY with great prices, no tax, delivered with a full tank of gas. I'm at the NY/CT/MA border. You might try Salem Farm Equipment, they also have very good prices and are fairly close.

My local dealer had 1 (only 1) at $15700.00 no mower. In Lower mid MI.

Jim:

If your local dealer is in Torrington, I experienced the same "friendly service" 5 years ago, when I bought my BX2200. He had them in stock, and as such, would not budge on price.
I shopped around and met Bill Leahy, owner of Leahy Equipment in Holyoke Mass. He was $1000.00 less on the BX2200/Attachments. Look him up and get a quote.
I also bought my L-39 from him last year, and have had good luck with parts and service.
As I told the Torrington dealer, if he would not work with me on the price, another dealer would, and did.

Good Luck
