BX24 800 Hour Engine Valve Clearance Completed

Well, it's that time finally. I am at 793.5 hours and decided to do the valve clearance check this morning. Manual says to check the condition of the head cover gasket, but I ordered one and replaced it anyways. The clearance is suppose to be .005" to .007". Turned out a feeler gage .008 fit easily into every one (I did not try any larger to see what they were at) so I adjusted them all to .006". Easy job, nothing difficult. Very minor adjustment is all it took though.

It doesn't sound any different to me...but I'm not known to have the best of hearing being in aviation for 30 years!!

Is that for intake and exaust both?

Years ago i used to set the tappets as we called it back then on my first car a 1950 Chevy.
Seems like the settings for intake and exaust valves were different back then if i remember correctly but that's been 52 years ago.

Setting the tappets sure made that 6 Cyl engine really run smooth and quiet while purring like a kitten .

Yes, that is for both. Yes, I remember having to set them on older cars too...bot not that old!!
