I just tried my blower out on the bx2360 today (the kubota front blower). It worked great but at the end it clogged with slush and I had to jam a hockey stick into it for like 10 minutes to get it cleared out so it would blow again. I know the snow is very wet today as there was only maybe 3 inches and it was quite warm for snow so I am sure that contributed but are there any tips from long time blowers on how to avoid this?

are you keeping your rpm up to rated spec?

is your ground speed to high?

is the blower working properly (fan spining at speed and shear pins ok)

keeping rev's low and ground speed high can plug just about any snowblower when the snow is heavy/wet.

Just to add to boakley's response would be use some fluid film or some pam on the fan paddles and the chute assembly.

Wet slushy snow will plug up the blower. Good thing to use a hockey stick to unplug it. I have known people who have lost fingers sticking their hands in there. It helps to spray the chute and augers with something like WD-40 or even motor oil. I have even used cooking spray. vegetable oil etc. any kind of lubicant will help prevent it from plugging up. The problem is the coating does wear off fairly quickly.

The only thing spraying the chute is going to do is make it not clog for about 10 seconds and waste Pam and/or WD-40. Heavy wet snow clogs the blower and I've yet to find a workable solution. It happens to me when there isn't enough quantity pushing through the chute, like on cleanup runs. Make sure the deflector is wide open. I'm curious if taking the guard out would help, but haven't tried it to see if it makes any difference. I have a blade on my 4 wheeler to deal with this type of "snow".

I normally use a low temp silicon spray on my chute. I found that normal oils, we'd-40 and others do not functions very well in extremely cold days. The problem you had today isn't a new one as I am sure all of us have had problems with wet high water content snow. As it gets colder it will certainly work better!

+1 i agree 100%. Ive tried sprays to no overall good effect. The best thing is to keep the RPM HIGH, speed low and lots of snow flowing.

I can blow wet snow just fine, but not if its only 2-3" , it just doesn't enter the blower fast enuf and .... CLOG.

This year i used to front plow to move the slush.

I keep a 3' long piece of 1" PVC schedule 80 pipe behind the seat. this clears the clog pretty fast, and doesn't scrape all the paint off of the chute.

Wet snow is going to plug up most blowers so you are not alone. All the tips you received is good. Nothing you can do, but stop and clear. I wouldn't worry about it since you wont get wet snow constantly.

ok thanks. Tried different rpms but ended up going with 3000rpm which seemed to work well. It was right at the very end that I had the clogging issues so it was probably inadequate snow causing it to plug up. Not sure how I could lose a finger unplugging the blower when the tractor is off and the blower is off, are people losing fingers with it off or are they losing them because they are dumb enough to try to do it with the blower on?

You can put wax in it. another thread said to use floor wax, also lowes etc sell spray stuff just for snowblowers. but wet slush, i dont think anything will help except high rpms! I bought an extra snowblower shovel just for the tractor and mounted it on the snow blower so i have it handy. good luck:thumbsup:
