Tom,
You hit the nail on the head....I'm in WA and shopping in OR. Yes I'm planning on financing some portion of the tractor, and might have to figure a way to finance extra implements and pay cash for tractor. While the dealer may not report taxes I could understand that K-Financing could. This makes no sense, when I can go to two Home Depot's across the river and get all the equipment and materials I want tax free (and do often).

On a side note, I got a quote for the BX24 with a tiller and 60MMM $19,479.20. Well, that drove a hard stop in the decision buying. Basically 4500 more to get a backhoe. The chief Financial officer (Wife) wasn't thrilled with that, and I can't come up with enough reasons to justify it. So I might be back to the 2350. Fun factor loss..

Oh, and Till = tiller not tax. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

So what's a good price for a BX24? I got two numbers over the phone (Pacific NorthWest):
Closest dealer: 16,200+a 60" MMM @ $1,689 + Till @ 1,875
Dealer north : 15,900+a 60" MMM @ $1,700 + Till @ 1,700
I hope to negoiate this down as I'm planning on putting half down and buy a 5' rear blade.

You figures on the MMM are about right based on what I have been quoted. On the BX24 I was recently quoted $15,125.00. This was in southern Oklahoma and may be different in your area.

Shoot, I go to Oregon on vacation every year or so and buy lots'a clothes at an outlet mall on the way back. I don't pay taxes on the stuff and nobody in CA ever asks me to pay it once I'm back. I buy stuff from other states all the time over the web and don't pay taxes unless the retailer happens to have one of it's locations in CA.

Frosty,

The BX line has been around for 6 years now. Have you thought about looking for something used? If you looked for a BX22 or 23, you might be able to afford a unit with a BH right now. If you got a good price on a used 2200 or 2230, you might be able to save up for a year or so and get the Woods BH6000, IF you have decided in the meantime that you really need one. Now I wouldn't want anything in the 18xx or 15xx lines, because I want the rear PTO HP to run things like a chipper, etc. that require more than those lines offer. IF, however, you could live with less HP at the rear PTO, you should know that the Woods BH6000 actually works well not only with the 1800 and 1830, but even with the 1500. blackmajikwoman has a BX1500 with the Woods BH and has reported great success. If you search the archives, you will find numerous posts of his along with many pictures of the BH in action.

I know your dealer said Kubota couldn't offer you a backhoe later on a 2350. He was being technically correct in that Kubota doesn't make their BH available to fit the 1500, 1800, 1830, 2200, 2230, or 2350. He simply avoided telling you that the Woods BH6000 works just as well. You can get this BH (installed) for $5k. Some Kubota dealers handle Woods and others do not. Likewise, Woods is available at many non-Kubota places.

A used Kubota is not like a used car. Cars will simply eventually fall apart. A well maintained tractor can last a lifetime. You should not face any great maintenance costs in the future just because you have a used tractor.

Happy shopping. I gave up my guns and hunting a long time ago. I think tractor shopping has a lot of similarities. Right now you're stalking out the prey. Soon you're gonna' bag a big one. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thank you for all the help.

I originally looked for a used one within 500 miles and there pretty far and few between. They fetch a high price as well.

So with the knowledge that the woods BH can do the job later and the idea I can rent a backhoe locally pretty cheap, I just can't justify the BX24.

Thus, I pulled the trigger yesterday /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif and will be picking up a 2350 Friday with a rear blade, 60"MMM, Tiller, FEL. I also recently got a used Post hole digger as well. So I should be set for some time.

Thanks. This site is great /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you have to ask if you need one then your probably like most of us, you want one, but don't necessarily need one. As handy as it would be for me at times to have my own, there are so many other items that would get so much more use.

Got it

Well, I picked up the 2350 today. I got a good surpise as well. They didn't have a 48" rear blade (Landpride), so gave me a 60" one.

Got it off the trailer and in the shop. Too bad I have to let it sit the weekend due to other things. Can't wait.

Thanks for all your help.
Frostyford.
