The seat belt on my BX broke a couple of weeks ago. It broke on the buckle side, not the side with the reel on it. It looks like it just fatigued to me, but also looks like where the part number was stamped in the steel might be what started it. It broke about 2 inches up where it bolts to the seat frame. Things break, but what bothers me is its a safety issue, and it also was likely weak several weeks before it broke completely in half. If I had flipped the tractor it wouldn't have done its job. Anybody else have this problem? Should Kubota refund the $70 it cost for new parts, which included the entire assembley, not just the one side that broke? The tractor has 500 hours on it and I wear the seat belt all the time.

Well, that is sure something I haven't heard before. I went out to take a look at mine just now and don't see anything amiss. I wonder if you somehow got a bad one.

Did you take the old one in with you when you got the new one? If it looked defective, I would think they'd have offered to replace something like that free.

No I didn't take it in and didn't think about it until someone said maybe they should replace it for free since its a defect on a safety item.

I think it's time to trade to a new tractor and now you have a GOOD reason.:dance1: You know other little things are going to start fraying and tires worn and air in tires getting stale and oil and filters need changing, ..., ...... Yep, it's time!!!!!:cool2:

They had a brand new BX25?? on the showroom floor. The reason I put the question marks is I'm not sure what the current model is for a BX2360 with a backhoe. It looked pretty sweet and all shiny. The only thing keeping me from buying it was 16k and one pi$$ed off wife.

Wash and wax yours and start parking it almost behind trees, bldg. or back of your land where she can just see you still have it. Start telling your wife how much you need a BH while walking away. Don't stay around to discuss it, just keep saying it as your leaving or she's distracted doing something. After a few weeks then go trade for that BX25 or newest edition BX25D and never say anything about it. After a few weeks start getting it closer to the house where she only sees the FEL then a few weeks later sit it where it's just straight up the front view then eventually (days, weeks, months, years later) turn to full side view. If she ever mentions it tell her you told her months ago how much you needed a BH and you'd bought one like so long ago that you can't even remember. Don't volunteer you also added a new tractor to the deal because the tractor looks the same.
There now, I've told you how to do it so start washing and waxing or you'll have to get your new one dirty when you get it so she won't recognize the difference after the swap.:D

About the $16000. If your is paid off your only talking about financing $6 or $7 thousand for 60 months or about $100 to $120 a month pmnt. If you still owe some on yours then you can probably get the same monthly pmnt with your equity in your BX2350 but just for extra months longer. Go, now!!!!:cool2:

There shouldn't normally even be any load on the seat belt, unless you're buckling yourself in so tight you can't breathe. It's designed to take the dynamic loading of a 250# human flipping upside down a few times and then dangling there upside down until the rescue crew comes. I'd take the part back to the dealer and try to get a refund. I would think Kubota would be very interested in seeing a failure like that to make sure it's not a wider problem.

I would sure think so too. There's a lot of us out here trusting that particular part.

There's a radio show out of Minneapolis called Garage Logic. Joe says you need to use the 48 hour rule. Get whatever new thing it is. Park it in a place that is not super obvious, but certainly not hidden. Then wait. If she sees it and mentions it within 48 hours, fess up and take it back. If discovery is after 48 hours, you can say, "That old thing? It's been there forever." and walk away.
