I am looking at the BX23 and the B7510, I have 3 acres and will use the machine BH & FEL only for yard work (drainage, stumps, walk ways, etc) no mowing. I live on a hill and will encounter some rough areas in the woods. Will the BX 23 do the job or should I step up to the B7510? The BX23 is kind of small and fits the size I am looking for, but I am concerned about the power and installing other attachments in the future, please help me out on this.

I'm in the same boat. Similarly sized property (but no hill). Similar needs. Similar concerns about BX23. See my post:

BX23 vs B7610+BH

I'll probably go with the B7610, but drop the backhoe to recoup the added cost and leave money for a hydraulic top and tilt. I'll miss having the backhoe, since I have a number of small jobs planned involving digging holes for some trees and periodic trenching for irrigation. However, the backhoe will cost as much as the tiller, loader, box scraper, and landscape rake put together, and would probably get no more use than any of them. I'll just need to plan my work well so I don't need to rent and excavator very often.

Chuxster and Seapea,

I have a B7610, LA352, Blade, and MMM. My advice would be to jump up to the B series.

When i bought mine i never expected to be doing the chores i am accomplishing with my tractor. Everytime i finish a job around the house i find something else to tear into. For example i decided to clear some woods around the house, this proved to be a big task for the 7610, but i added a toothbar and 500lbs in a ballast box for the rear. These additions gave me the traction and power i needed.

So my point is, even at 30 hours on my machine i am second guesing the fact that i should've opted for a bigger tractor. But the 7610 has done am awesome job so far. Now that i am getting accustomed to the abilities of the 7610, wow! what could i do with a 2630 or a 7800?

hope this helps.

And see, I was going to offer the opposite approach. The BX23 IS small, it's made for jobs on a smaller scale. But it will really do almost anything you ask of it. I've got the BX2230 and I'm amazed at what I get out of this little thing. Also with slopes you might appreciate the low center of gravity on the BX tractors. I think the BX will do anything you ask of the B series, it just may take a little longer.

I've got 15 acres of wooded brush area to deal with and I know most people would tell me to have gone bigger. But as this was my first tractor I wanted to go smaller at first, then trade up if necessary. I honestly don't think I'll need to, though. The backhoe size and issues I am not familiar with and can't speak to that, but I would think if it's smaller jobs(AKA yard work) the BX23 would be fine.

I just now saw you had mentioned rough areas and woods. One issue with the BX's is a soft underbelly. There is a plastic fan (I think that's the issue) that breaks easily with brush whacking at it. Several people have posted fixes for this when their mower isn't attached, all I've seen involved some sort of skidplate attachment which seems to fix the issue.

If mowing is not an issue, it is a no brainer in my opinion.

B7510. You will have more of everything. You will not be disappointed...in my opinion anyway.

I have a BX and a larger B series. My property is under 4 acres. I can honestly say that having experiece with both the BX and the B2910, there is no way I would be able to live with only the BX.

Main reasons are the limited 3PH size and the low ground clearance, which is accompanied by extra stuff hanging out down there under the BX begging to be damaged...specifically an oil filter and HST cooling fan...

The BX is a nice tractor, but it is not a B series tractor. But a B series is not an L series...and a L series is not a M series...and so on.

Carefully check out both and see what you think yourself. Be sure to lay on the ground and look up at the underside of the tractors before you decide...

Laying on the ground to look under the tractor is a very good idea. I almost bought a Cub Cadet 5234D until I looked underneath it. The Hyd filter and transmission housing were so close to the ground, I'll be afraid to take it out of the garage. I've looked at Cub, MF , Case/NH and Kubota's sub-compact tractors, and have decided on the larger B7610 for my 3.5 acres. One reason for the decision was the ground clearance issue. Best of luck with whatever you decide on. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I don't think the powerplant of the BX is an issue. It has plenty of HP\torque to get the work done. On the other hand, how much clearance do you need? The B series will offer almost twice that of the BX, but you should also check if the B series BH drops the clearance some. If clear is an issue, the B7510 is your tractor.

Chuxster - I struggled with a similar decision two years ago, with the BX2200 and the B7500. In my case, mowing (lawn, pasture, meadow) is about 85% of my work. I was favoring the BX due to smaller size, less cost, and possibly a better mower. However, I bought a B7500 after sitting on both at the dealers. The B7500 just "felt better" to me. Perhaps, Henro can comment on how he "feels" on his BX and B. Maybe it is only me, but if you haven't sat on both, try them before you decide. Best wishes on your decision! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Rusty

You can also order a B7510 with the BX MMM suspension deck as an option. So you now have the best of both worlds, a great grass cutting machine with higher ground clearance. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

When you say no mowing, I say no-brainer /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Get a B series tractor! This is coming from a BX owner and lover.
