2005 BX23
Since I have installed the grapple I have noticed something and don't think it's quite right and wondered if I could get a little help.
We (Jeff at american solutions actually) have devised a simple test.
If a couple of people could do this test to see if it's my machine or the way it's suppose to be I would very much apreciate it.

1: place the loader bucket flat on firm ground and move the loader handle part way to the dump position.

2: place the loader bucket flat on firm ground and move the loader valve all the way to the end of the dump position, you may feel the valve go past a slight detent.

Now I need to know if it raised the front of the tractor in test 1 or test 2.

Here is my issue:
There is a regenerative circuit in the loader valve that while active supplies pressure to both sides of the cylinder and allows fluid to "regenerate" thus allowing the bucket to dump faster. On Bx22s this regenrative circuit is active in test 2 or when the handle is moved all the way to the right. On my BX23 at least, it is active in the first part of the handle movement and won't raise the front of the tractor until I go all the way to the right. This doesn't seem logical to me and it makes the dump kinda sudden when you have a good load on it. It's more of a "something to get used to" than a problem but I would rather it worked the way the BX22 does so I am hoping it's something with my machine and can be fixed.
I hope I explained this well enough to understand.
I would appreciate any help.

Like the prior post position #2 raises the front end for me too!

What you are expereincing is the difference bewteen the 3-way valve that came standard on the BX22 and the 4-way valve that is on the BX23. It's supposed to work that way.

I don't think that's quite correct. The BX22's 3 way valve does not have the regenerative circuit to allow a rapid dump. My BX22 has the 4 way valve, and yes, the far right position (past the detent) on the joystick engages the rapid dump action. On my BX22, test 1 would raise the tractor. Test 2 would not. I agree that that the rapid dump in the near position (test 1) seems counterintuitive.

Will not raise my tractor but seems like it tries

Easily raises the front end.

Wow this message board and the whole internet thing in general never ceases to amaze me. In mere hours after I asked a question I got replies not just from across the country but from another continent in another hemishpere as well.
I can only say thank you all very much.
Now it looks like it's supposed to be that way.
Jeffs 4way valve on his BX22 will lift the front end in position 1 or part way and won't in position 2 or all the way, so it must be a change at one time or another . Actually I can't see a big reason for me to have a fast dump at all, Maybe someday I will take the spool out to see how it works and maybe block a port or channel on the spool. Husko(sp) is the manufacturer of the valve and by all accounts won't even discuss this valve except to tell you it's a proprietary valve. I guess it will stay this way as I can't justify spending a bunch of money on it just to chang e how it works a little bit. It's just that it's so darn close to perfect.

Youre welcome and thank you for asking the question. It shows how hydraulically challenged I am, I didnt even know the detent was there. I just thought the tractor wouldnt curl itself off the ground. I dont know how I'll use my new found knowledge but its there if I need it.
