BX23 60\" MMM hits right rear tire

First off, I have been a lurker for 6-8 months and just purchased a BX23. I am very glad that I found this forum...great people and I learn something new each time I log in.
I did several searches to locate my subject but had no luck. If there have been postings on this already, please let me know and I'll keep looking for them.
Anyway, I have bar tires on my tractor and when I raise the belly mower (60"), the mower hits the right rear tire and therefore I cannot lift the mower to full height. This in itself doesn't bother me, except for the fact that I cannot use the "TOP" position on my mower height adjustment knob when I am using a 3ph implement (for those who don't know, the "TOP" position on the adjustment knob keeps the mower all the way up when using a 3ph attachment since the mower and 3ph use the same lift/lower hydraulics).
Has anyone been able to adjust their mower for this? I really don't expect much help from my dealer, so I'll see if there is a simple adjustment I can make to fix this and then go from there.
I have read the manuals and they do not cover anything regarding adjusting the mower deck forward or anything.
Thanks for any ideas
Tim

I'm having the same issues, its doesn't rub but its under 1/4" clearance. If you hit a bump it will rub. I plan to take mine back to the dealer to have them look at it. I wonder if this is the 60" MMM issue and the 54" would not cause this. If that's the case, I would not recommend the 60" any longer.

Re: BX23 60\" MMM hits right rear tire

My dealer said that this was fairly common with the BX23. I'm going to make some adjustments tonight and see if I can fix it...if it gets too bad, I'll call the dealer, but like I said, I don't think I'm going to get much help from the dealer since they said that this was fairly common. I'll see what I can do with it tonight. I just want a little clearance so that I can use the "TOP" function as intended by Kubota.
Other than that issue, I think this tractor is great.

I have the mmm but have turf tires. I think the turfs don't get in the way like the bar tires do.

Re: BX23 60\" MMM hits right rear tire

I think that is really odd that they are hitting on one side. I have the 60" mmm on my bx2230 with turf tires. They are very close but they are uniform on each side. If your ags hit initially, say one time, the first revolution, and one side has offset itself for clearance leaving the first side in contact. I wounder if something has bent in all instances mentioned here, caused buy the ag tires. What happens if you force the deck to be straight? Will both tires clear the deck?

There's always tire shaving. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Re: BX23 60\" MMM hits right rear tire

FXSTER - I had a similar problem with my B7500HST and RCK60-24B 60" MMM. In the "transport" position (full up), the left rear tire (turf) rubbed against the MMM. The MMM manual specifies the adjustment for the front link that connects the front of the MMM to the front of the tractor. Adjusting the link reduced the rub, but did not eliminate it. The other contribution to the rubbing was the mounting of my rear wheels (as set up by my dealer). I moved the rear hubs from the inside of the wheel rims to the outside, and used the axle hole specified in the MMM Operator's Manual. The rub is now gone. You might want to check your tractor and MMM operator manuals for rear wheel set up. Good luck. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Rusty

Re: BX23 60\" MMM hits right rear tire

FXSTER - You might want to read the thread "RCK60-24B MMM operating in transport position" #283671, in Kubota Owning and Operating Forum. Sorry, I tried to add this thread as a link, but was not successful.

Re: BX23 60\" MMM hits right rear tire

Here is one thread that talks about the tire rubbing.

My tire rubs but it does not prevent the deck from locking in the top position.

Re: BX23 60\" MMM hits right rear tire

I have a BX23 w/bars and a 60" MMM and I don't have any rubbing problems at all. I'll guesstimate there is approx 1/2" clearance at the closest position. I run with the MMM in transport position when not mowing or when I mount the BH & FEL and don't recall the MMM ever making contact w/the bar tires.
I mounted and adj the MMM myself as I took delivery of the BX23 before the MMM arrived and I went by the directions in the manual to adj., it.
Inorder to get the front of my MMM properly adj., I had to adj., the nuts in around 10 to 12 turns which not only raises the front but also pulls the MMM forward. This may be where your problem lies. The front should be slightly lower than the rear, say around 1/8" to 1/4" lower.
Off-hand I'd say that the rubbing should be able to be adjusted out or theres something wrong in the linkages.
Good luck
Volfandt
