I may be wearing you guys out with questions but I like others peoples opinions, especially when I am covering new ground. We are currently building a house here in SW ARK (GO HOGS GO), that is located on five acres. Do not have any rocks to deal with and will not be removing any trees. This is not a wooded lot, but what trees there are consists of large established oaks. If I ever had to remove a stump, I have a close friend that will be living next door that owns equipment that could easily remove a stump.
The land has been hogged twice this year. Memorial day weekend a friend loaned me his 25 HP John Deere w/4' hog. I really liked it so I started looking for a rig to maintain the new home place. Those green things are mighty pricey!!! Started looking and found this web site and so many comments were made about this BX2200. I went to a NH dealer and two Kubota dealers and really like this tractor. Did not like what I saw at the NH dealer. I am suppose to get this 2200 on Tuesday. Read this weekend about 22's and inquired and found that the 22 is a backhoe. I can not see me needing a hoe.
The 2200 is coming with the FEL, 60' MMM, and Woods 4' BB so I can take care of the gravel driveway. Dealer quoted me a price of $12,500. I feel that this is the right machine for me. But...........I am all ears.

Thanks!

Hootie,

Sounds like you have researched things thoroughly and made a well-reasoned decision. I know this is the Kubota forum, but can you share with me what you looked at in the NH line and why you didn't like it? Before you answer, please read the rest of this post so you will better understand why I am asking.

I first heard of this site while researching the BX22 and have spent way too many hours here reading the posts. Like you, I have no reason today to need a backhoe. However, I would rather overbuy today in the event I might need the BH later rather than find out later that I need one and have to upgrade. As a well-known member of this forum has expressed - "It's a character flaw" of mine. I just love the looks of that BX22 and imagine myself sitting on the seat digging up everything in sight. However, I should be more practical like you and get the BX2200. Could buy alot of attachments with the savings.

Now, back to NH. Although I am lusting (can I use that word here?) after a BX22, just to be fair, I looked at what Deere has to offer and have spent some time online looking at the NH line. I happen to have a neighbor who owns the local NH dealership. He was very honest when he told me that Kubota has a unique product with the BX and he has nothing comparable to it. He suggested that I stop by and look at the TC18. Bare in mind, he has not tried to steer me away from the Orange machine as he admits they are great products. I just wanted to have a clear picture of what is available from the different manufacturers so, when the time to purchase comes, I will feel comfortable with my decision.

So, back to the question. What NH model(s) did you consider and what didn't you like about them? What was it about the 2200 you liked better? Thanks in advance for your help and congratulations on your purchase. I don't think I have read one negative comment about the BX2200 so you should feel at ease with your decision.

Hootie, as for your price, I found a BX2200 with a FEL and a 60"MMM for 13500 out the door here in Michigan. I plan on getting more prices. I to am looking at the BX22, I also don't need a back hoe but for resale value could be better.
