Grading BX2200 - Turf tires with box blade

How effective is the BX2200 with turf tires pulling a box blade? I've got mostly lawn/pasture, so turf tires would be best overall. But there are some areas that need some serious grading. Will a BX pull good without Ag tires?

The BX will not in my opinion give good performance with turf tires when pulling a 4 foot box blade. I usually ran out of traction even with the ag tires before running short on power when working my Kubota 7548 box. converesly, I found that the fairly wide ag tires on the BX did not mess my lawn unless it was soft and wet. Your conditions could be different however. An atomic bomb might not dent my lawn. J

If the surface your grading damp etc.. the turf tires will load up,but one cure for that would be put a set of rear tire chains on and use 4wd low range.

I've always like turf tires for fel work also mowing,but there are times I wish I had AG tires..plowing snow, going thru the woods,wet areas,slopes,pulling a loaded trailer etc...

Good set of rear tire chain w/turf tires are like night and day.

I use a 42" box blade with my BX2200 with turfs. I've had good success with graing a gravel drive and removing about 6inches of grass and soil for a concrete pad (8'x16'). I used 4wd low and didn't have a spinning problem but if I got the box too full or too deep, it would stop the tractor. The BX2200 has lots of ways to avoid/help with tire spin with the differential lock and the 4wd functions. I chose the turfs because I wanted the least aggressive tread on my yard when mowing.

I have a Woods 48" with turfs on my BX, and as long as i don't try and dig too deep, i don't have any problems. I imagine that chains would help, though. If i were doing a LOT of box blade work, I would consider purchasing a set of Ags...a complete set of tires and rims costs about $300....

Is that for all 4 tires and rims and was that thru Kubota or somewhere else? And are the ags less likely to get punchured by shredded sapplings, etc. I'm asking because I've had two slow leaks in my right front tire by what looked like shavings from a sapling stuck between the tread. Since I only will be using the rotary cutter every four to six weeks, a set of ags may not be a bad idea - for that price.

I was quoted either $325 or $350 (first thing to go is your memory, can't remember the second thing), for a set of bx2200 wheels/ags from my local dealer. He said shipping was $75.

I ordered a set of ag tires and wheels for my Bx from my dealer. Price was $260.00 ,said he would not charge for freight if I waited for his normal stock shipment. Been 2 weeks,expect any day now.

Get them right from your dealer. As far as the slow leaks, Yea, I had them too, both of my Cubs and then my Bota. Had enough of that, so I had them filled with Agco's Soft fill, which has the consistency of Gel. No more leaks, ever, and still have as good a ride as I had with just air. I HIGHLY recommend it. You wont' have any more leaks and wone have to worry about peeling the tire of the bead when doing heavy FEL work.... If I remember right, both fronts were filled for about $120 total...

With the B8200 I have pulled 3 ton hay wagons with it and the tires will pull unless it's wet i have turf tires on it also
