BX2200 Tillerm, how to cut the pto shaft

Tom, The tiller is here! I'm going to go and adjust the slip clutch per your specs. No instruction with the unit, other than a small uselss book, and tips for installation? I'm assuming I bold the PTO shaft to the unit first, prior to installation.

Also, it seems no adjustment of the jack stand keeps the tines off the floor, yours the same way?

Pretty serious machine for the money, now I just have to hope the PTO fits, I've got tilling to do...

BTW - Can you till with the MMM deck on? I wasn't planning on taking it off, the ground is level. Just leave it in 'top' position and go... what do you do?

Congratulations!

I would loosen all the bolts on the slip clutch first, make sure it is loose and will turn freely, then turn all the bolts back between ½ to ¾, you may need more depending on the soil conditions. Then cut the PTO shaft, then mount the slip clutch onto the tiller, and the other end on the tractor. You should be ready to go. BEFORE you engage the PTO, make sure you can operate the tiller without binding in the down and up position.. Then you are ready to go. If the slip clutch engages, the tiller will stop turning but the PTO shaft will turn. If this happens often, try turning the bolts another ¼ -½ turn. Also do not forget to tighten the turnbuckle and nut on the 3 pt to prevent side to side movement.

As far as the stand is concerned. I do not use it. I found by making a dolly so the ends are supported by the dolly, the unit is stable enough that I do not need the jack.


I till with the deck on, in the TOP position, and use 4WD, low gear. I have tilled with the FEL on and off and did not have a problem with control or a light front end. I till at about 1/2 -3/4 throttle.
