Hi all! I am new to this forum, but I've been using it for several years to make repairs to my BX. Extraordinary board here and I'd be broke if not for all the good information in here. I thought I'd introduce myself and throw a couple thoughts out there about my experiences with my BX.
I live in Central PA and bought my BX new about 8 years ago. I use it hard, harder than it's meant to be used anyway. Recently I ran into a lot of problems and I thought I'd share and hopefully provoke some discussion.
While working in the woods, clearing a lot for our new house I had a stick run up in front of the radiator and lodge itself between the shroud and the engine. Destroyed my fan and completely tore my fuel line in half. The tractor sat for about 2 weeks till my new fan came in. I fixed the shroud myself and put on new fuel lines. much to my dismay, when I finally got her running again SIX of my hydraulic hoses sprung leaks. I'm sure anyone who owns a BX knows the Dayco hoses that Kubota uses are junk. I replaced everything with Parker save for about 3 that still appear to be in good shape. While expensive, the parker hoses will last.
Once I got her fixed up the engine was sputtering like crazy...ugh...water in the fuel. Drained it..replaced filters..all was well.
Now I'm in the process of upgrading the TPH. Those turnbuckles they use...man whatta pain. I'm going to order the B series stabilizer arms today. Yet another super find on this forum. My 6' blade just beats the turnbuckles up and i'm tired of replacing them.
So...over the past 8 or so years, I've replaced just about everything on this tractor outside of the engine. Most all my fault except for the hoses that simply went bad. But my overall experience with my BX has been great. For the size...they are simply super machines. Hopefully I'll be able to use my experiences on this board to help others over time.
I do have one question though. Has anyone figured out a way to get the THP extended a bit so you can get an extra couple inches of lift? My blade is a full size and because of that I only get about a foot of ground clearance at full lift height.
Thanks for allowing me to be part of such a great brain dump of tractor knowledge.
