Tractor
Kubota BX2200
Hi all! I am new to this forum, but I've been using it for several years to make repairs to my BX. Extraordinary board here and I'd be broke if not for all the good information in here. I thought I'd introduce myself and throw a couple thoughts out there about my experiences with my BX.

I live in Central PA and bought my BX new about 8 years ago. I use it hard, harder than it's meant to be used anyway. Recently I ran into a lot of problems and I thought I'd share and hopefully provoke some discussion.

While working in the woods, clearing a lot for our new house I had a stick run up in front of the radiator and lodge itself between the shroud and the engine. Destroyed my fan and completely tore my fuel line in half. The tractor sat for about 2 weeks till my new fan came in. I fixed the shroud myself and put on new fuel lines. much to my dismay, when I finally got her running again SIX of my hydraulic hoses sprung leaks. I'm sure anyone who owns a BX knows the Dayco hoses that Kubota uses are junk. I replaced everything with Parker save for about 3 that still appear to be in good shape. While expensive, the parker hoses will last.

Once I got her fixed up the engine was sputtering like crazy...ugh...water in the fuel. Drained it..replaced filters..all was well.

Now I'm in the process of upgrading the TPH. Those turnbuckles they use...man whatta pain. I'm going to order the B series stabilizer arms today. Yet another super find on this forum. My 6' blade just beats the turnbuckles up and i'm tired of replacing them.

So...over the past 8 or so years, I've replaced just about everything on this tractor outside of the engine. Most all my fault except for the hoses that simply went bad. But my overall experience with my BX has been great. For the size...they are simply super machines. Hopefully I'll be able to use my experiences on this board to help others over time.

I do have one question though. Has anyone figured out a way to get the THP extended a bit so you can get an extra couple inches of lift? My blade is a full size and because of that I only get about a foot of ground clearance at full lift height.

Thanks for allowing me to be part of such a great brain dump of tractor knowledge.

Pats Easy Change will extend the lower TPH arms almost 4" and are a good combination with the telescoping stabilizers. There are other hitches that will do the same, but my experience with Pats has been good and all my attachments fit no matter the lower pin spacing on the implements and the BX is one tough little sucker. I had the same problem with the original hoses, but it's only been with the power steering hoses, one sprung a leak so I replaced all four.

OH, and with regard to the power steering hoses...yeah...replaced all four of them as well. Unfortunately the Parker dealer didn't have the same size hose for a replacement, so there had to be a little bit of metal grinding to make the new ones fit. But since replacing...no leaks. That's something else, I tried putting a suicide knob on the steering wheel and it seems that caused a leak as well. Not sure if it was the pump leaking or the hoses at the time. It was a while ago.

With the power steering, those knobs don't really serve much of a purpose so I thought better of it and took it off.

I have turned to the Tisco short toplink for extra lift on my 2200.

Mine is also about 8 years old and I have had all the same issues.

A year and a half ago the hydraulic supply hose to the controller started leaking just as we got hammered with 30" of snow. I went through $50 of SUDT clearing the yard before getting a new $10 hose made up the next day. Now, I have a spare on the shelf.

In fact, I have a spare of almost everything on the shelf!!!

Thanks, any chance you have a pic or a link for that top link? I found a "short" top link that I was using, but it wasn't as heavy duty as a "normal" top link and it eventually bent while working in tight quarters around some trees. I went back to the original one that came with the tractor. I have several top links that I use for different applications, but none shorter than the Kubota one. I'll get the Tisco if it's a bit more durable than the one my local shop had for sale.

BSU, I had a BX2200 and could not get much lift on the Box blade so we welded new hitch points on the box blade. Then I got just a woods blade and same thing. wondered how I was going to modify it for lift since the hitch pount had less metal to mess with.

AH, enter Pat's quick change.. With it, it is easy to hook up and it lifts the blade up to seat level.

I just bought a B2620. I sent Pat's an email about new u-bolts and set screws so I could move the hitch to the new tractor. They provided new improved parts to me free of charge.

I was impressed.

So, with the Pat's on the back I just leave a draw bar stuck between the hitch points when I don't have an implement attached.

On another point, I must be weak. When my hydro return hose for the loader broke and I went to the dealer to get a new one made I bought the new tractor.. Dumb .SS

Good Luck,

Tom

i have shortened my top length down to 10.5" not counting threaded
ends this has added alittle more lift to the 3 point. mine did not
have a top link when i bought it so im not sure about the length of the
kubota one. with a tiller i now get plenty of lift.

It's beefier than OEM & far less costly. Around $15 I think.
