Started off I had a noisy bearing on the left side of the deck. Took it apart and found the blade shaft was worn too so replaced both bearings and shaft on the left side and everything was great. Brother mowed twice with it and started making some other noise that sounded close to the same but not quite the same. I thought I must have not got the bearings in right or something since it was close to the same sound.

Took it to the kubota dealer and they replaced bearings on that side again and the noise is still there. They say that they believe it to be a bearing in the transmission. Talking to my brother he said that he ran over a big tree limb and it got wedged in the blades and deck and it stopped the engine right before this happened . Does this sound like something that could have cause a bad bearing in the trans? anyone know what else I should look for or how to change that bearing in the transmission.

Any experience or advice is much appreciated

My first suggestion is don't let your brother mow anymore! :) I'm assuming that by transmission they are talking about the gear box on the mowing deck? I'm just thinking out loud but I wonder if you removed the belt and then ran the deck whether that would help you narrow down the noise. If it goes away you could look at the left and right spindles and pulleys for damage.

If they are talking about the tractor transmission then that is something I would have the dealer do. I know it's not a good idea to stall a diesel like that but I have no idea what kind of damage could be caused by that.

Good luck and hope you figure it out and get it repaired quickly.

I agree that it seems they must have been talking about the gear box on the deck, since the sound is only there when the mid PTO is engaged.

It is a good suggestion to remove the belt and try it - if sound is gone, must be a bearing or spindle or something on the deck, if sound still there may be the gear box...

I think my first step would be to disconnect the deck PTO shaft and then engage the PTO just to isolate whether it is the tractor or the deck.
